It has been 94 years of providing emergency aeromedical and essential health care services to the Australian community and we couldn't have been more proud.
In the early morning of 17 May 1928, Australia’s very first RFDS flight took off. In its inaugural year, the RFDS treated 225 patients. Today, the RFDS helps over 1000 patients every day, delivered through a network of aircraft, road vehicles and telehealth services across Australia.
The past few years were challenging for all of us, and as the demand continues to grow our team of pilots, doctors, flight nurses, engineers, and support and administration crew work tirelessly every day of the year to provide 24-hour emergency retrieval service and primary health care to remote communities.
During times of uncertainty, one thing is for sure, with our communities standing by our side, we at the RFDS will continue to innovate and rise to every new challenge that comes our way to provide the mantle of safety for those that live in rural and remote Australia.
