A warning to all olive growers in the Central Highlands that Olive lace bug has come to the area. This tiny little flying insect that resembles a small mosquito has decimated crops in Italy and overseas and has also impacted the crops here in Australia. It’s easily treated with a specific insecticide that minimises risk to other insects in the area. I’ve sprayed these trees one or two years ago and it seems to be now that I need to spray them once a year well before the olives flower to make sure the olive lace bug is controlled. If your olives are looking a little bit worse for where have a good look at them and see if they a little flying insects landing on them and sure enough it will olive lace bug.

When laying carpet, our recommendation is to lay it indoors. Yeah it’ll suppress some weeds for a time. But leave it out there and you’ll have to deal with it sooner or later.

PGG does a combination of gardening and landscaping projects. Check out our social media to see what we do. We operate between Bendigo and Sunbury, stationed out of Kyneton/Castlemaine.

We are looking for a full time casual to join us. You might be interested in horticulture or landscape construction, or currently be studying it or is just interested in it. We are looking for someone who wants to work, has a good attitude and is fit and healthy as the work is physical.

Starting rate for casual is $36p/h.

If you have more experience we can chat about rate. Alternately, if you can offer less than full time but have consistency with days, we can potentially accommodate.

Trying to finish off some landscaping for a friend which included building a fencing frame for the client to finish with some reinforcing steel squares. Previously I had done the retaining wall closer to the house and spread all the soul and now I’m putting some drip lines down so that they know where to plant over the weekend ready for next weeks rain. Final step mulch and some Landscaping rocks..

Today was the end of a four day transformation of a front garden and entrance walkway in Castlemaine. We love seeing these come together and the client it wrapped with us working to their quite tight budget. I can’t wait to see how this natively garden grows.

The new hot composting bays are working a treat at the Peppermint gum farm. They’ve been very quick to heat up in this cold weather.
