Out and about this week checking on crops and pastures sown in autumn. We are looking at plant health, insect activity, w**d pressure and assessing options for fodder production or continued grazing. While this is happening, we have liquid nitrogen, insecticides and herbicides being applied, and fertiliser arriving to be applied to fodder crops. Home grown fodder is going to be a valuable asset heading into next year. Fingers crossed that all farmers receive some favourable weather.

It’s time to start thinking about fodder. Hopefully the season goes in the right direction for it.

With some rain around, we have been spreading urea on crops and improved pastures as producers look to increase forage yield for winter grazing.
So far, the weather forecast has been kind with our applications.
I wonder if every time I put fertiliser out, it rained the next day. Wishful thinking.
But for the moment, Best laid plans are bringing rewards.

Another job finished today. As they say, just add water. This paddock is sown with an annual ryegrass for winter grazing and hay production. It will be fallowed over summer and sown to permanent pasture next year. It was a pleasure helping the customer get this sown in a short time period.

What is it about cows and fertiliser. We were out again spreading some of the good stuff on a few oats paddocks. Another beautiful spring day. Another shower would be perfect. Hope you all had an enjoyable weekend.

Spent the afternoon today at Bannaby Angus top dressing paddocks in readiness for hay production. Rain is predicted for this week. It would be nice if we did see some action in rain gauges.
