So exciting to be working on the the base of this chiffonier. The top is long gone.
It comes from Childers area that the owner tells me was once full of red cedar. His dad tells of hearing the old generation talk with regret at cutting all the red cedar down.
This piece is from the end of that era . It is a mixture of cedar and pine.
I love the Cathedral sides and its unusual to see the front panels still there.
The top of the chiffonier is long gone but her beauty and charm prevails.
I found blacksmith nails and hand cut dove tail joins all pointing to an aged piece.
is cutting keys for a lock many years out of use
Now to hand strip and polish her to maintain the patina.

Im pretty excited about the repair to packaging tape damage. only sneek peek until funished and delivered.
Also chair is altogether. It fit back together like a glove. Araldite and saw dust gets harder and stronger binding all the dowels together. An extra support added at back just as a precaution.
NOTE:
i usually take of metal braces but the chair was bought to me for a broken leg not loose dowels and is a set of 6

I love when I have a job to deliver out west. I get to see peoples farms and places. In this video my dad came with me. I was delivering this glass cabinet. We got to see the old shed and machinery

picture 1. this broken chair has so many nails in it. If one nail doestnt work 3 definately wont.

BIG LESSON HERE.
Never use or let packers use packaging tape on old or antique furniture.
This 1910 silky oak sideboard belonged to a great grandmother. While moving it the damage occured with packaging tape. The finish everywhere else is in pretty fair cindition. now to strip draws and doors only and refunish to get same look as the rest of sideboard.The top has some damage so we will do that as well.
LESSIN: NEVER USE PACKAGING TAPE... MASKING TAPE OR CLINK WRAP IS THE ANSWER

As promised.
This is the beautiful silky oak table. The client has just bought the silky Oak dining room suite. There was damage to the top. I stripped, sanded, slight stain and finished top only. We just lightly sanded legs and resprayed.
I love how client is replacing a modern extendable table for this beautiful suite.
NOTE: The modern table and chairs is for sale.
