1.2. 1.3. 3.4.

Sprayed on the columns of the stripped-back Burnet Ward at Mulgrave Private Hospital, these are grid references. A site survey confirmed the existing column sizes and the structural grid before the new layout was locked in.

Every wall, door and service in the new ward is set out from these marks.

Plasterboard off, ceiling open, and the questions start.

Our team walking the Burnet Ward strip-out at Mulgrave Private Hospital, with the emergency department, theatres and imaging still operating nearby. What's still connected? What stays? What will the new layout run into?

In a hospital, demolition starts with knowing exactly what you're taking away.

The bed labels were still on the wall when the Burnet Ward strip-out began at Mulgrave Private Hospital. Curtains on their tracks, bedheads in a row along one wall.

The new ward is planned as 20 single bedrooms, each with its own ensuite. Getting there starts here: taking the old layout back to the slab so walls, wet areas and services for twenty rooms can be set out from scratch.

An upgraded services panel at Cabrini Health Malvern, housing medical gases and electrical outlets — partway through the works, and finished. A small example of the power of transformation across this project.

At our Mulgrave site, fire walls are being installed as part of the refurbishment. With the space demolished back to a clean slate, it's a chance to build fire separation into the new layout properly - fitting fire-rated systems and sealing every service that passes through, all done carefully around a hospital that keeps running throughout.

Not all healthcare construction happens above ground.

At Cabrini Malvern, new water and fire services are going in to support both the current hospital and what's planned for the future. Through careful planning and staged delivery, this essential infrastructure is being upgraded without disrupting hospital operations.

A look at the Endoscopy recovery area at Cabrini Health Malvern — from mid-construction to the finished space.

A lot happens between these two photos.

When challenges become opportunities.

Existing buildings rarely reveal everything upfront.

Across healthcare refurbishment projects, Kingdom Projects regularly navigates unforeseen conditions, complex services integration, evolving clinical requirements and the challenges that come with working in live environments.

The key isn't avoiding challenges. It's solving them quickly, safely and collaboratively.

Live operational environments
Complex infrastructure upgrades
Collaborative problem solving
Maintaining continuity throughout delivery

Every challenge is an opportunity to find a better way forward.

Delivering in stages while care continued.

Refurbishing a live hospital requires more than construction expertise. It requires detailed staging, clinical coordination and a clear handover strategy.

At Cabrini Health Malvern, works were delivered progressively across multiple clinical areas, allowing completed spaces to be returned to operation while work continued elsewhere.

A staged approach. Minimal disruption. Better outcomes.

Meeting the Standards Required in Healthcare

Working within active hospitals means compliance is part of every task undertaken on site.

From infection control procedures and controlled access points to designated scrub-up areas and appropriate PPE requirements, our team follows strict healthcare protocols to help maintain safe environments for patients, staff and visitors.

It's all part of delivering healthcare projects safely while supporting day-to-day hospital operations.
