Dirt roads outside Wisemans Ferry on the new BSA Scrambler 650. Shares its 652cc single-cylinder architecture with the Gold Star but throws on the scrambler garb, and it's an easy bike to have a good time on. No switchable ABS and the road-oriented suspension keeps you to the smoother stuff, but fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR rubber (one of my all-time favourite tyres) and there's traction for days on the dirt and the tar alike. Torque-rich single that pulls hard down low, though the 5-speed box had me reaching for a sixth more than once. It's a weighty thing too, but it all comes together just right as a classic scrambler. $11,799 ride away. Full thoughts coming soon.

First ride on the Triumph Tracker 400 and Thruxton 400 from the brand's Australian launch. The flat-track Tracker 400 ($9,900 rideaway) is the standout looker and the more practical everyday bike, while the cafe racer Thruxton 400 ($10,390 rideaway) brings a genuine sporty edge to the 400 range. We rode the Rieju Aventura Rally 307 at its Australian launch, taking it into a soaked Cobaw State Forest the day after torrential rain. At a claimed 138kg (dry) with a 21-litre tank and up to 500km of range, it's a lightweight adventure bike pointed hard at the dirt, and it impressed us far more than the $8990 rideaway price suggests. The suspension: grouse, the tyres found grip that shouldn't have existed, and there's a factory Power Up Kit that looks like a no-brainer. Full review:

Honda's 2026 NX500 is on sale, and for the first time the adventure twin can be had with E-Clutch. The system lets you start, stop and shift without touching the clutch lever, while still leaving manual control there when you want it. Same 471cc parallel twin, 19-inch front, 180mm of clearance and a 17.5-litre tank. Standard NX500 from $10,999 rideaway, E-Clutch from $11,399 rideaway. Six-year warranty across the range.
