"Townsville soils magically move"

Soils need to breathe, soils contain air.

Worm's 🪱 need air in the soil profile.

This is why your soils are moving its the Worm's moving the clay soils and building areas so they can breathe.

After mowing if your soil smells like a swamp you have a drainage problem and no air in your soil.

The solution is aplications of 3mm graded sand. This will provide air to the soil and improve drainage and keep the 🪱 Worm's happy.

Droughts and Drainage

Townsville lawns have two main issues that are weather related.

Droughts will come and go, normal weather.

Storm water drainage and soil drainage is in your control. Management of excess water can be critical in bigger wet years. Im seeing some longer range forecast that the next 4 years will be above average rainfall.

Now is the time to prepare, look at your drainage, storm water and soil profile.

Applications of sand will help drain the soil allowing your lawns to breathe.

The photos here show a lawns first mowing after top dressed with sand 7 days earlier.

One lawn finished in flooding rain, one happy customer. With well over 2.5m for the wet season its a battle to get work done but I'm doing my best with the small windows of clear weather ⛈️⛈️ that we are getting. Hopefully the weather improves for April 🤞

Some good information from TCC

Most of your lawns nutrient needs can be supplied by resting your catcher 🌿

As grass clippings decompose, they supply three major nutrients: phosphorus, nitrogen, and potassium. These clippings can contribute to nearly 25% of your lawns fertilisation needs and help preserve water.

Make the most of your grass clippings and leave the catcher off your mower to reduce the amount of fertiliser you need to use.
