📢 Upcoming Planned Burn Notice for Byfield, Rockhampton and Shoalwater Bay📢

Hazard reduction burns at Shoalwater Bay Training Area, within the Livingstone Shire Council region, will commence from Saturday 15th of August 2026 to Tuesday 8th of September 2026 part of preparations for the upcoming fire danger period.

The Hazard Reduction Burn Program on Defence properties is designed to help protect neighbouring communities and the environment from bushfire events.

Defence works in cooperation with site neighbours, Local Government, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service to plan and coordinate hazard reduction burn operations on Defence sites.

Neighbours and adjoining landholders are advised that:
🔥All hazard reduction burns are undertaken in accordance with strict safety and environmental guidelines
🔥Hazard reduction burns only proceed under suitable weather conditions
🔥Some smoke is inevitable during hazard reduction burning, and residents may need to take appropriate precautions
