Remember “the good old days”? Well, you might like a copy of one of my books, ‘Australia Remember When’ (my first book and from which this pic comes) and the follow-up ‘Australia Remember This Too’. There’s an ‘Adelaide’ and ‘Melbourne Remember When’. All are over 250 pages long with more than 200 photos in each. RRP is $34.99 each, and every copy personally signed. With Aust Post advising to buy and post early this Christmas, one of these books is a great gift idea. For more info just go to the Remember When Shop at; https://rememberwhenshop.com.au/

The CBH Group grain Ravensthorpe Silos were painted by artist Amok Island in September 2016. Located on the Corner, Dance St & South Coast Hwy, Ravensthorpe, WA.

Ravensthorpe is a small wheat and sheep farming community located 541 km south-east of Perth in Western Australia. Each year when the wildflower season begins Ravensthorpe comes alive with a vibrancy of colour and wildlife. Among the many species of wildflowers in the area is the Banksia baxteri.

The CBH Group grain Ravensthorpe Silos have the honour of being the second silos to be painted by FORM WA for the PUBLIC Silo Trail in Western Australia.

The silos depict the ‘Six Stages of Banksia baxteri’. All six sides of the three silos are painted, with one stage painted on each silo. Showing the development from flower buds to full bloom, to seed pods developing, then drying out and opening. This particular species of Banksia is native to Western Australia and only between Esperance and Albany. The animals depicted in the murals are the Honey Possum and the New Holland Honey Eater, both of which are the main pollinators for this particular plant.

It took Amok Island 31 days to complete the mural using approximately 338 litres of paint.

Additional Information

This is a fully operational working site so site access inside the fence is NOT allowed. Bus and Caravan parking is available directly opposite the silos and the silos can be seen from the other side by walking around along the outer fence.

About FORM

FORM is a Western Australian state-based organisation. They are an independent, non-profit cultural organisation that develops and advocates for excellence in creativity and artistic practice in Western Australia.
