Honouring Quiet Excellence at Queensland Airport Lighting!

We are proud to announce Dale Eriksen as the recipient of the Sam Christie Quiet Achiever Award.

This award holds deep meaning for our team. Sam Christie was one of Jeff’s closest friends, his contracting mentor, and a trusted colleague for 27 years. Sam guided Jeff through the final year of his apprenticeship and continued to shape his career for decades. Sam later became Queensland Airport Lighting’s Operations Manager, a role he carried with unmatched capability and integrity until his passing in 2013.

Sam was a no‑nonsense straight shooter, highly skilled, deeply respected, and known for getting the job done without fuss and without seeking recognition. He took pride in contributing quietly to the success of every project and instilled those same values across the workforce. His legacy remains a cornerstone of who we are today.

There is only one person since Sam who so clearly reflects these qualities: Dale Eriksen. Dale consistently keeps the wheels turning across all our sites, working with humility, reliability, and zero desire for the spotlight, just a genuine commitment to doing things right.

Keep an eye out for updates on our new build 👀

Delivery Day! ✈️🚜 Last week, we were proud to hand over a brand-new JCB 1CXT Compact Backhoe Track Loader to Australian Airport Lighting!

This versatile machine will play a key role in airport runway refurbishments and installations, with the ability to remove the backhoe assembly and fit a purpose-built coring drill. The coring unit will allow their team to cut into runways and surrounds to install landing and airport lighting, including right here in Townsville, where major upgrades are underway.

Pictured is Jesse Rankin, Electrical Supervisor for the Queensland Airport Lighting Division, who shared how integral this machine will be to their operations and praised its ease of use and capability.
