ECO HOMES 🌿

Sustainability is the way of the future, caring for the planet that we call home by building homes that are kind to the Earth. Our resident GreenSmart accredited Building Designer, Riley, takes us through one of our most eco-friendly projects right here in Traralgon.

This home includes a lot of clever features that attribute to it's aspirational energy rating and efficiency.
Some of these features include:
- Specially modelled eaves that allow for minimum sun exsposure during the summer months, and maximum light in the wintertime.
- A new passive roof ventilation system that eliminates the need for whirly birds on the roof with superior ventilation through the roof space that filters throughout the home.
- Colorbond Steel Spandek cladding had been installed on top of James Hardie castellated battens, allowing moisture to drain through the home's walls and out, preventing mould and improving air quality within the home.
- Euro-style tilt-turn uPVC windows that allow for enhanced ventilation.
- The home is exceptionally sealed; because of this, a heat recovery ventilation system (HRV) has been installed, which brings fresh air into the home and pumps the stale air out, allowing for better air quality and a consistent internal temperature year-round.
- Stunning polished concrete flooring has been installed on top of perimeter and under-slab ventilation systems which prevent heat and cold from transferring into the ground and vice-verse, attributing the the home's passive year-round internal temperature and negating the need for heating and cooling systems.

HAPPY HANDOVER FRIDAY

The team at Virtue Homes was incredibly proud to hand this accessible home over to DECHousing last week, who will facilitate the occupancy of this purpose-built home by tenants with specific and specialised needs. A special nod to Virtue Site Supervisor, Travis, and Virtue Building Designer, Emma, for their work on this home.

This project had extremely stringent compliance guidelines that had to be followed in order to meet regulations. Emma was able to design the entire home to meet these codes and regulations, whilst still maintaining a feeling of homeliness that is essential when designing a residential dwelling. Travis and his team of tradespeople challenged themselves to produce this stunning final product, and absolutely nailed the brief.

We are grateful to DECHousing for their partnership with Virtue Homes, and for trusting us to deliver this beautiful dwelling which we are sure will be well loved by their clients.

OFF-THE-GRID OPULENCE

This magnificent home was constructed back in 2022 and specifically designed to take in all of the views and aspects of farm life. Built in the rural outskirts of Traralgon, this project managed to make a compound-sized structure feel homely and inviting. The four wings of the home meet in the centre surrounding a cosy kitchen-living heart. Undeniably modern in its design, the home melds into the landscape, allowing the views to be the true stand-out feature. Large windows surround the entire complex to allow every aspect of the home to enjoy the green pastures and rolling hills of Gippsland.

The home was designed to function entirely off-grid with the use of tanks and solar panels. The floor plan manages to fit multiple living spaces and bedrooms all under one roof without the impact to the environment that a home with half the square footage would generate. A feat of engineering and design 🏠🌿
