Some describe a superior w**e as balanced, enduring, complex, intense and lingering. All fitting attributes for our w**e-loving leader, James Caldwell, who today celebrates 30 years with Hembrows.
From the younger bloke behind the desk in 1996 to leading the pour for more than 15 years, it’s been quite the vintage. There have been changing hairstyles, industry highs and lows, a few bold decisions, countless w**e deliveries and plenty of adventures along the way. Like any fine w**e, the years have brought experience, character and a story worth sharing.
James’ influence goes far beyond simply leading the pour. Over the years, he has embraced new ideas, recognised potential and never been afraid to try something new. From the projects and jobs, he’s helped bring to life to the decisions that have taken Hembrows in new directions, James has continually looked beyond the familiar and towards what could come next, helping shape the business we know today.
For James, a great w**e is about far more than the taste or the price tag. It’s about where it came from, the dedication that went into making it, the story behind its sourcing, the people who created it and who you get to share it with.
That same appreciation carries through to the way James leads at Hembrows. It’s about more than the business itself. It’s about honouring the vision of its founders, creating a workplace people are proud to be part of, bringing genuine commitment to every project, valuing the people and partners who contribute to its story, and sharing in the success built together.
Over three decades, James has worked alongside some incredible people, watched apprentices become tradesmen and leaders, administration clerks grow into business support managers, and tradesmen progress into senior leadership. Along the way, he’s built genuine friendships across the industry and shared in plenty of milestones, both on and off the job.
