A broken storm water pipe isn’t just ugly, often it can result in blockage which can cause thousands of dollars of damage to your house. The was the first thing that caught my eye when arriving at this house was that all the eves had mould growing under them. It was no surprise that the storm water pipe was completely blocked. The lady had had it repaired a few times in the past but not surprisingly without mechanical protection it had quickly been broken again. Encasing you’re storm water pipe across the verge is a great way to ensure a long jeopardy of your pipe and keep your house healthy and looking great .

In an age where ‘it’s cheaper to just get a new one’, I do really enjoy the opportunity to be involved in a restoration job where I get to bring something of sentimental value back to it’s former glory. Because sometimes it’s about more the just function.

Every decade of building seems to have its common issues, where houses were built to a design but the floors in the design weren’t yet realised. In the 70s it was flat roofs and exposed timber, in the 80s we had sunken lounge rooms, and ceiling glue that gave away, in the 90s and beyond water ingress through bad design became more common including this regular problem that I see .

Selling your house and have an old pool?? Did you realise that even a disused swimming pool needs to have a certificate of compliance before settlement can be undertaken? This means that you will either need to bring the pool and associated fencing up to standard or have the pool certified as ‘Decommissioned’.

This may be a cost vs reward based decision or if it is likely the property will be purchased by developer, there is little point in spending thousands of dollars upgrading the perimeter fencing only for it to be demolished by the new owner.

So if you need your pool decommissioned contact GMS to undertake the required work to meet all of requirements of decommissioning legislation. We can even arrange for official certification documentation to be issued to you by a qualified inspector on your behalf.
