The new Nazareth College Valetta Road Senior Years Campus is about to break ground! We are delighted to be a part of this exciting project and cannot wait to see this beautiful building come to life.
Woven brickwork and natural textures connect the built form to the surrounding landscape. Co-designed with local Kaurna custodians, the architecture tells a story of the campus's proximity to the Karrawirra Parri (River Torrens) and the cultural significance of reeds, traditionally used by Kaurna men and women for weaving.
The design explores the tension between loose and tight weaving patterns, interpreting these forms through both the building's façade and spatial organisation. The building's shape responds to the concept of an open weave, wrapping around the large gum tree at the front of the site. Gathering areas and reflective spaces flow through and around the building, creating opportunities for connection to nature, culture, and community.
As construction begins, we're excited to turn this vision into a reality that will inspire and serve generations to come. 🤩
