Some people talk about you because they lost the privilege to talk to you.
Small things make small people seek revenge on someone else. It doesn’t take much to offend some people in today’s world. I have had people go on a crusade to destroy me simply because I blocked them on social media for being rude and obnoxious. I have had others turn on me and slander my name because I dared to tell the truth instead of play their game.
You never know what can set some small-minded person off and make him hate you for life; it is just in his simple-minded nature. These type people always need someone to hate, even if their hatred is not justified. They are addicted to anger and drama. Some people will even talk about you simply because they lost the privilege to talk to you. You just never know.
As Benjamin Franklin said, “There is no little enemy.” This is especially true in today’s internet society, where some coward sitting at his computer in his mom’s basement can slander and libel you all day long, just to destroy your reputation.
It is for this reason that it is wise not to purposefully make enemies. Be polite, humble, and kind to everyone, at least until it is time to step it up a notch. Be careful with your words and don’t go looking for a fight or an argument. Always think before you talk, text, or post something on social media.
Some people may think that is being politically correct, but it’s not; it is defensive living. It is not giving your enemies an opening to attack you. Sun Tzu taught us, "The art of war teaches us to rely not on the likelihood of the enemy's not coming, but on our own readiness to receive him; not on the chance of his not attacking, but rather on the fact that we have made our position unassailable.”
You can’t control small-minded people, but you can keep yourself as unassailable as possible. You can still be honest and frank, and be careful with your words. And take John Wayne's’ advice and don’t say too much. Warrior up!
