R.H. Custom Carpentry on the Bellarine

Quality carpentry and joinery services from an eco-friendly, off the grid workshop in Wallington. We enjoy working with people to bring their vision to life.

Settling into the Bellarine, Victoria in 2020, Rémi has over 15 years experience working as a carpenter-joiner (across Quebec and Ottawa) and brings his skills, dedication and love of woodworking to each and every job. Together we are invested in sustainability and have built an eco-friendly, off the grid, solar-powered workshop on our family farm in Wallington. Our home and work is centered around a low carbon, water efficient, paddock to plate lifestyle. We prioritize using sustainably-sourced timbers, recycled and local materials. Rémi uses his fine carpentry and flair for design to manufacture bespoke pieces and update living spaces so that they are functional, enchanting to look at and pleasant to use. Rémi passionately applies himself to the restoration of old and historic homes, using cutting-edge tools, clever design and patient classic carpentry techniques to refurbish and restore the beauty and grandeur of yesteryear. It is important to us that RH custom built-ins and furniture pieces are an investment by homeowners in the future. A future with less fast furniture lining the nature strip and winding up in landfill, and more beautiful, sustainably-produced, quality furniture adding value and joy to homes and offices. Contact us today for; your custom furniture, built-in libraries, wardrobes, entertainment units and other cabinets, as well as for cabinetry in your laundry, bathrooms and kitchens. We look forward to working with you :)

Booklovers! 📚Does working from home alongside your custom-built floor to ceiling library with rolling ladder sound like a dream come true? 🐛🍄

Perhaps 2025 is the year? ✨

👨🏽‍🎨Working with the homeowner, Rémi designed this incredible built-in home office to accommodate two WFH professionals within an impressive built-in desk that wrapped around the bay window, and complemented the contiguous library, that any Harry Potter fan would give their back teeth for 🧙🏼‍♀️

Rémi hand-selected the recycled messmate Timberzoo and with the wood being reclaimed from one Victoria’s last century wool factories in Melbourne’s west, you can almost feel the history that it holds 🗝️

The hand-built ladder (with wheels!) incorporates black powder-coated metal and glides across the upper railing. It means—no more standing on chairs to get to the top shelf…and gosh it is handsome🤭

💚 Like all furniture built by Rémi, sustainability is an important factor, with the cabinetry being crafted in our 100% ☀️ solar-powered workshop, and with an ethos that it is built to last. Built-in cabinets, with high quality wood and fittings are timeless quality, and a permanent feature adding value to your home. It is NOT low-quality fast furniture that will make its way to the front nature strip in 5 years.

When it’s and , it’s a quality handcrafted product that is going to suit your individual needs and fit your space.

♥️ We are just in love with the finish on these Raised Elise cabinet doors. The style, which could be described as an inverted frame and panel, and the rich gloss finish, give the room a modern, luxurious feel⚜️

👨🏽‍🎨The doors have been custom painted to match in with the floor to ceiling library, designed with the homeowner and custom built here in the 📚

🚥The inset strip lighting in the upper shelves is a great way to bring soft ambience 🕯 to the room of an evening, and highlight displayed treasures 🖼🏆🏺📕⚱️

The adjustable shelves mean that different sizes can be accommodated, and the metal tracks are a handsome feature in themselves.

We ♥️ the Bellarine

Some in our family have known and loved this place for six generations, while others have been entranced more recently.

We ♥️ our beautiful beaches and rolling green farmscapes dotted with 🐄🦙🐑🐎, where we can grow and buy fresh 🍅🫐🍓🍎🍏🍇🌼🍯🐝🦪🐟

Our green Bellarine 💚 is where we can relax in nature under the shade of a large old endangered yellow gum tree, take a walk along a quiet beach 🌊or kick back and enjoy local products made right here from our rich, fertile lands and waters 🍷🥃🧀🍞🥐

Our beautiful Bellarine inspires many 🎨🖼📸 and we welcome many visitors so that they might also relax, eat, drink, unwind.

Saving the Bellarine is about protecting what we ♥️ about it. It’s about making sure that decisions about our future are sustainable and strategic, and the doesn’t become overdeveloped.

We wanted to lend our voice to so our green spaces continue to be productive, inspirational, rich in nature and cared for, for all to 💚 and enjoy, always.

What would you be putting in those small, deep boxes???!…. Certainly not plastic bags, because we all gave them up so as not to contribute further to a millennia of micro-plastics in our oceans and food systems…🐠🐟

A bit of fancy hardware and carpentry pizazz can change your life… well, at least your kitchen experience and there is a lot to be said for that 🤩

🍿The Family Room is a place where we want to spend time together; watch a movie 🎞 with the kids and spill popcorn all over the couch 🛋, and then unwind in the quiet of the evening with a delicious book, some music and a hot chocolate ☕️

🤩This gorgeous, modern and functional entertainment unit does more than provide a place for the TV 📺 It is a custom center-piece for one of the most used rooms in the home 🏡

The veneer hardwood shelves provide a lovely accent against the white , and match in beautifully with the hardwood benchtop. The Laminex cupboard doors are flat and modern with push-to-open hardware and provide a place to store away all the things that don't display as well; like board games, toys, craft materials, and in our house; unruly stacks of origami paper 🎲♟📼💿🧵🧶

The main bench is recycled hardwood that has been finished with clear coat. Veneer shelves can also be done in hardwood for an all-round authentic finish.

💡Wires can be hidden behind the cabinetry and upgrade options include: inset strip lighting on upper shelves, usb charging stations 📲🔌🔋 in the cabinetry, hidden drawers, and adjustable shelves.

Designed with the homeowner, the cabinets have all been constructed in our off the grid, solar powered workshop ☀️ The cabinets have then been installed and spray painted in place for a quality finish.
