Little Yarra Free Range Eggs We are a small acreage focussing on sustainable farming. We will soon be producing lovely free range eggs, with more produce to follow in the coming year.

Our chickens roost and lay inside a mobile caravan that is moved onto fresh pasture daily. The chickens are kept safe from foxes behind electric poultry netting, and also have the protection of our old but trusty dog Sweep.

Our Australorp x hens will be ready for pick up this Sunday (17th May) between 8:30 am and 11:30 am, and Monday (18th May) between 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm.
These girls are almost 8 weeks old and are $25 each. They are expected to lay around 320 eggs per year, but will not start laying until they are around 20 weeks old. You will need to bring a box to take your girls home, and supplementary feed will be available to purchase. If you prefer to get your own feed, these girls will need to be on a “pullet grower” mix until they are 16 weeks old.
Pick up is from the main shed at Little Yarra Free Range Eggs, 150 Doon Road Launching Place (enter off Corduroy Road, the last driveway on the left).

From day olds to six weeks… it’s gone in the blink of an eye! Josie is an awesome protector of these beautiful girls, and has done her job with patience and grace (she also likes her new mattress in the shed 😂).
Less than two weeks to go and we will be selling some of them… $25 each and we will post again when they are ready to go!

These little peepers have been hanging out near the main shed, but didn’t even last three weeks before they outgrew their quarters and needed more space! A quick conversion to the hay shed and they now have access to the warmth of heat pads inside their new shed and the fun of exploring the grassy fields outside.
We will be selling half of these lovely girls in 5 weeks time (when they are about 8 weeks old and well past needing additional heat), and keeping the other half as replacement birds for our farm. Get your chook pens ready, chickies are coming 😁🤭 🐥
For those that don’t know, the breed is Australorp x. They will stay black, and are expected to lay around 320 pinkish coloured eggs in their first year.
Such a highlight for us at the moment.
