LET'S TALK MORE ABOUT NON-CLIMBABLE ZONES:

Can a boundary fence be used as a pool fence barrier?

Australian Standard 1926.1 - 2012 stipulates that when a Boundary Fence (min 1.8m) is used as part of the chid-resistant barrier, then the Non Climbable Zone (NCZ) of 900mm will be measured from the inside (pool side) of the fence.

Note:
Climbable objects or surfaces should not encroach on the 900mm non climbable zone on the inside of Boundary Fences (1.8m).

If a Horizontal Surface is located within the NCZ then a fillet is an acceptable solution which would rectify the problem.

Complying with swimming pool safety requirements may appear complex, and it's common for pool owners to believe their pool is compliant. However, often overlooked are the changes made over the years, such as incorporating BBQs, garden beds, decks, or other significant modifications.

Implementing a non-climbable zone is a crucial step in preventing unauthorised access by children. Let us assist you in creating a secure and compliant pool environment for your peace of mind and if you have a little Houdini, then don't underestimate their intelligence. Store moveable items away from pool areas when adults are not actively supervising.

🔒 Safety Alert: Windows Facing Your Pool/Spa 🌊

Got windows that open onto your pool or spa? Here's a key tip:

🪟 Awning or Sliding Windows: If they open onto the pool/spa, restrict them! The gap should be 125mm or 100mm max, depending on pool safety rules.

⚠️ Be Careful with Lock Restrictors: Some use Child Safe Window Lock Restrictors with a cable. But these aren't pool compliant! They can be unlocked, risking pool access for kids.

✅ Opt for Permanent Solutions: Choose a restrictor that needs a tool to remove. Don't go for cable-type restrictors – they won't pass inspection.
