BUILDING WRAP | WHAT IS IT?

As you drive past our jobs, you'll often see an entire building wrapped in bright coloured fabric. Often called "wall wrap", it's a critical component that's quickly hidden beneath external cladding. It's a breathable polymer membrane that acts as a control barrier against moisture, air infiltration and wind-driven rain — protecting the structural frame from damage while improving a building's thermal performance and energy efficiency.

The steel frame of the new VCE Centre at Chairo Christian School was wrapped last week. We used special fasteners and tapes to keep it in place, before battens, waterproofing strips, and the exterior cladding covered it forever.

CRICKET CLUBHOUSE & SOCCER CLUBHOUSE CALOUNDRA | NOW TENDERING

Another exciting tender opportunity has arisen for works in Caloundra for Sunshine Coast Council.

The project involves the construction of a new two-storey Cricket Clubhouse and a new two-storey Soccer Clubhouse. Both buildings will feature a similar fit-out, including multiple amenities and changerooms, a first aid room, canteen and hospitality areas, cool room, communications room, meeting rooms, media viewing and broadcasting rooms, expansive social spaces, and office facilities.

We look forward to submitting our tender for these works and the opportunity to be involved in bringing this project to life!

DESIGN & CONSTRUCT | METHODOLOGY

Do you know we offer Design & Construct services? D&C clients typically arrive with a design concept and preliminary plans, but a lot of the finer detail unresolved. Our team then works collaboratively with the client to resolve the outstanding matters, offer design improvements, build a detailed scope of works and budget, and look for cost savings during construction.

We work directly with the client, and any appointed superintendent or QS they nominate. D&C is one of many "delivery methodologies" we offer clients, and we'll post details on the others in the coming weeks. Call us on 03 5611 0381 if you'd like to know more.

JOINERY DRAFTSPERSON | SHONA SCOTT

Shona began her career in construction on our joinery floor, then soon undertook her Cert III in Timber Systems Design. She now works in the joinery office as a qualified Draftsperson and plays an important role in ensuring projects run smoothly from concept through to production.

She produces detailed production shop drawings in CAD, interprets plans, prepares projects for the CNC machine, and uses her experience to assist clients with design solutions. Our inhouse workshop gives us the ability to provide a premium joinery service to our construction clients, and Shona's an important part.

THE ELECTRICAL ROUGH-IN | CHAIRO CS

Hidden within the walls of every building is a network of cables that we don't often consider. They bring power and communications to all the rooms for the lights, internet and appliances we rely on. Right now, teams of electricians are busy installing a forest of colour-coded cables in the new VCE Centre at Chairo Christian School, Drouin.

This is called "roughing-in", and happens just before the plaster and other claddings enclose them forever ... hidden behind power points and light switches. It looks very confusing, but is all done with the oversight of our Site Manager, Daniel Jones.
