This time round I wanted to share some insight into how we build our comms rooms.

The installation of certain equipment early not only streamlines installation and testing for us but it allows us to be 100% confident going into the commissioning phase if all cabling is accounted for and has a home.
It’s far more efficient to identify any faults before ceilings and walls are finished.

Look forward to sharing more from this KNX smart home project in the coming months as it takes shape.

Comms room tour - Palm beach

Here we check out what goes into a ‘smart home’ and how we like to set out a majority of our projects.

This one is very much still a work in progress, and will look quite different once we are ready to commission the control gear, sparkie criticising is always expected 🤓

This home will be having a Control 4 interface to integrate all audio, lighting, heating, cooling and Intercoms which sits over the top of the CBus system and brings communication of all of these elements into the 1 place.

While there are a number of systems on the market Control 4 has been selected for this particular project as the client wanted a consistent interface across a number of properties with remote access from the one user friendly platform.

More to follow once we bring this one to life.

This is something new for me, I’ve never been in front of a camera so go easy.

Here’s a shortened clip of a much longer conversation I had with a few weeks back about my journey.

We started chatting about when I was apprentice and what that looked like, I really was un-certain about what I wanted my electrical career to look like as a 17 year old.
Throughout my trade I had the opportunity to work on some amazing projects with all types of construction and architecture.
I loved that every job could be so different, it felt like a new challenge every time.
We worked with builders and other trades who really cared, and had respect for each other’s craft.

I thought if I ever had a company of my own that I would be able to choose to work with like-minded people, but that is easier said than done unfortunately.

There has been plenty of highs but I’ve also had my fair share of lows. The lows helped me to learn from my mistakes and build better relationships while focusing on working with people who care in the same way.
