Master Builders Victoria have confirmed that the Andrews lockdown of Victorian business does include the construction industry.

That means tens of thousands of residential and commercial building sites are closed with contractors, sub contractors, independent operators and associated industries unable to work until at least Thursday.

I've had dozens reach out overnight confused if they are able to work. Unfortunately for 99 per cent of those asking the answer clearly is no.

On these sites, only essential make safe works can be carried out, and all other work must cease.

I will be continuing to follow this up with the Andrews Government, and calling on clarification about what will be done to support the industry if lockdown continues longer than announced.

Contractors, builders and their families rely on being able to go to work to make a living, and Daniel Andrews announcing a snap lockdown without clarifying the impact on the building industry, and many other industries, is a disgrace.
