On Friday 14th August, the North team came together at Gosford RSL Club for our 2026 Annual Conference - a full day dedicated to one powerful idea: Excellence.

Because at North, a podium finish isn't enough. We're chasing triple gold - best-in-class strategy, ex*****on, and delivery and making our Excellence value real in the everyday work we do.

From our Excellence Workshops with John Melvin to hands-on sessions across every part of the business - PM, Site Management, Estimating, Apprentice, Administration, IT, HR, and Business Development Excellence - the day was about answering one honest question: "What does a good job look like in this role, when done to the North standard?"

We were proud to welcome guest speaker Richard Young for our Team Excellence session. A Shingo Master Trainer and performance leadership specialist, Richard challenged us to simplify our systems, align our people, and build environments where high performance is sustained not just chased. A huge thank you to everyone who brought their energy, honesty, and commitment to lifting their own personal excellence standard. This is how we keep our flywheel turning. Building with Trust.

A big thank you to Richard Young.

A huge congratulations to our North team members recognised at this year's Central Coast Apprenticeship Awards!

Congratulations to all the winners of the Central Coast Apprenticeship Awards, held on Tuesday night! These awards have been running for over 20 years in partnership with Ourimbah TAFE and simply wouldn't be possible without the support of local employers and our fantastic sponsors.

We're especially proud to celebrate our very own North team members who were recognised on the night:

Cooper Gifford-Cock – Certificate III Carpentry, 3rd Year Apprentice Winner (Stage 3 Winner - 2025), taking home a $500 Makita Australia voucher to spend at Kincumber Mitre 10. Nice work, Cooper!

Jesse Hackman – MBA President's Award 2025 Roofing Finalist (3rd Place), as well as President's Roofing Award Runner-Up and winner of the Good Chippy Award. A fantastic effort across the board, Jesse!

1st place award winners walked away with a $500 Makita Australia voucher to spend at Kincumber Mitre 10, plus a bag of goodies and merchandise donated by our generous sponsors.

Thank you to Master Builders Association of NSW – Central Coast and TAFE NSW - Ourimbah Campus. A big thank you to the other organisations who joined North to celebrate our local talent:

Shamrock Joinery, Combined Demolition Services, Dahlsens, AWS Australia, CSR Gyprock, Coastwide Waterproofing Supplies, Delta Corp Australia, and Sanctuary New Homes.

A WIN FOR THE WEST!

We're incredibly proud to share that North Construction & Building has been named WINNER - Public Buildings Over $5 Million at the 2026 Master Builders Association of NSW Western Regions Excellence in Building Awards for the Dubbo Hospital Pathology Relocation!

Engaged by NSW Health Pathology and contract-managed by NSW Public Works, our team delivered the new Dubbo Hospital Pathology through the demolition and remediation of the existing Block M building, followed by extensive alterations and additions to construct a brand-new Pathology Department. The scope spanned new sewer drainage, structural steel and a new plant deck, roofing, specialist joinery, and a full suite of new services - electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, nurse call, pneumatic tube, and medical gas - plus the careful relocation of existing pathology equipment into its new home.

What makes this result so special? Every stage of this $7.2 million project was delivered while the hospital remained live and fully operational - a true testament to the planning, coordination, and care of everyone on site.

A huge thank you to:

NSW Public Works for your partnership and guidance throughout
NSW Health Pathology (Dubbo) for your trust and collaboration
Our valued subcontractors and trade partners, whose craftsmanship and commitment brought this project to life
And of course, our North project team - your dedication, problem-solving and pride in your work is exactly what this award represents.
Congratulations to all involved.

A night to remember for North Construction & Building!

We're incredibly proud to announce that our Gosford Regional Library project has been awarded a Certificate of Professional Excellence in the Commercial Construction ($25M–$60M) category at the 2026 NSW Professional Excellence in Building Awards, hosted by the Australian Institute of Building (AIB) at The Star, Pyrmont on Friday 24th July.

This recognition is all the more special as it lands in the AIB's 75th anniversary year — a proud milestone to share in.

Heartfelt congratulations to Senior Project Manager Joel Price, who accepted the award as Team Leader, and to the entire project team whose skill, dedication and craftsmanship brought this landmark community space to life: “This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication, expertise, and perseverance of our entire team. A huge thank you to everyone involved—our project team, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers and also Central Coast Council - for your collaboration, professionalism, and support throughout the project. Your collective efforts have helped deliver a result we can all be incredibly proud of.”

👏 Josh Sheather, Jack Stonestreet, Mitch Lanser, Peter Ives, Scott Freeman, Rob Harding, Brady Casey, Keith Stark, Jake Dettman, Cooper Gifford-Cock and Bella Keft.

The Gosford Regional Library stands as a testament to what our team does best — delivering exceptional spaces that serve and inspire the Central Coast community for generations to come.

Thank you to the AIB for this honour, and to everyone who contributed to making this project a success.

Bluewave Stage 3 has recently reached completion, delivering a significant upgrade to resident accommodation and support facilities.

The project included the refurbishment of 10 resident bedrooms with adjoining ensuites, along with a refreshed kitchenette, sitting room, and lounge area to enhance comfort and amenity for residents.

In addition to the resident-facing spaces, extensive upgrades were completed to the facility's back-of-house areas, including new cleaners' rooms, dirty utility areas, storage rooms, and hot water plant infrastructure.

The facility's rear entrance was also transformed with new brickwork, automatic sliding doors, honed concrete flooring, and landscaping, creating an improved arrival experience and modernising the overall appearance of the building.

A great outcome delivered through strong collaboration between the client, consultants, subcontractors, and project team.

Proud to announce the completion of the Broken Hill City Library.

North Construction & Building is delighted to have delivered the newly redeveloped Broken Hill Library — a project that beautifully blends heritage preservation with contemporary design in the heart of far-west NSW.

Working within a sensitive heritage and cultural setting, our team undertook the partial demolition and adaptive reuse of the existing heritage-listed library, alongside the construction of a striking new contemporary facility featuring exposed precast concrete and structural steel. The new building was carefully constructed behind the retained heritage façade to protect significant heritage fabric.

Some of the standout features we're incredibly proud of:
🔹 The Wilyakali Room — a dedicated Indigenous cultural space with bespoke display joinery, flexible exhibition areas for artworks and artefacts, and feature lighting incorporating Indigenous art motifs.
🔹 A retained heritage stone "pug wall", preserved as an interpretive feature celebrating Broken Hill's rich mining history.
🔹 Custom display systems supporting rotating exhibitions, with interior finishes drawing on the local landscape through regionally inspired colours and materials.
🔹 Smart environmental systems — including thermal coupling technology, high-performance glazing, automated windows, BMS controls and smart lighting — designed to protect exhibitions and artefacts in Broken Hill's harsh climate.

A huge thank you to Broken Hill City Council, architects Neeson Murcutt Neille, and every subcontractor and team member who brought this landmark community facility to life.

St John's Anglican - Aquatic Centre, Forest Lake QLD

We're pleased to announce that North has won the main works contract for the St John's Anglican Aquatic Centre, a project set to deliver a brand-new grandstand and upgraded aquatic infrastructure for the College community.

At the heart of this project is a striking new aquatic centre grandstand, thoughtfully designed with four (4) change rooms, associated storerooms, and dedicated office spaces tucked neatly beneath the structure. The scope also extends to a series of upgrades and modifications to the existing main pump room, breathing new life into the facility's core infrastructure. Built to stand the test of time, the grandstand combines robust reinforced concrete elements with sleek structural steel framing, all crowned by a durable COLORBOND® roof system.

This is very much a team effort. North will work hand-in-hand with pool builder Baldwin Aquatic — delivering the impressive 50m swimming pool — and project designer BSPN, with close coordination between trades key to seamlessly weaving together the structural and aquatic elements. We're looking forward to collaborating with the client, consultants, and trades to bring this outstanding aquatic centre to life for the St John's Anglican community.
