As your local electrician, I'm all about keeping our community safe so, I wanted to remind everyone of the importance of smoke detectors!

Did you know that having working smoke detectors can save lives? Here's a quick checklist to make sure your smoke detectors are in top-notch condition:

✅ Test your smoke detectors regularly to ensure they're working properly. Press and hold the 'test' button on the face of the smoke alarm until the alarm sounds, and then release it.

✅ Change the batteries at least once a year – a small effort for a BIG impact!

✅ Make sure you have smoke detectors near key areas like bedrooms.

✅ And, If your smoke detectors are more than 10 years old, it's seriously time to consider replacing them.

Recent TV and soundbar install for a client. I was unsure of the condition of the bricks behind, so I used chemical fixings to ensure there was no chance of the TV coming down, especially with young children in the house.

WHO AM I? My name is Katrina and I live in the Sutherland Shire of NSW. My husband and I have two young children, Phoebe & Riley and a gorgeous English Pointer, Tasha. As a family we love nothing more than spending time at the beach, going fishing and getting away in our Jayco camper.

WHY DO I WORK REMOTELY? During the global pandemic the world learnt how to operate online, and I realised that I no longer had to spend up to 3hrs a day commuting to/from the CBD for work. I can support my clients and make a difference right from my home office. I learnt that time is valuable and that those 3hrs commuting would be far better spent with my family. I want to be present in my children’s lives. I want to be able to attend school events. I want to be able to be home with them when they’re sick. I want to be a Mum, as well as have a career.

WHAT AM I PASSIONATE ABOUT? I am passionate about providing support to overwhelmed small business owners and lawyers with their business back end. I recently had a client who had their insulation ignite due to the heat caused by their halogen downlights. Halogen downlights create a lot of heat, and if they're not correctly insulated, installed and maintained they can cause a serious fire.
