Worth a post this one, thought we could just remove the old then place a over the old concrete sub-base for new tiles, turned out the old base was not great, suggested to client we remove and replace after removing tiles and a closer look. They agreed.
Cut and removed by hand. Shows that there are known unknowns, we try to re-use and utilize what we can, but in this case it was not worth it, but worth a try.
On another note we decided to use the new , made sense as we didnt have to bring 2 sheets of mesh into a laneway and through a house. It is more expensive than normal mesh though. (Subject to where you buy mesh) but for this application it made sense. You can buy it through , we grabbed it from the branch. Would definately use again especially in tight access.

There is a position open for a Landscape Apprentice at our business.
The role is full-time, most of which is on the tools learning Landscape skills practically while you do paid landscape work.
Part of the time is used for the study of landscape theory, usually in a class with other landscape apprentices 1 day a week during regular School Terms of the year, at a Registered Training Organisation like a Tafe college, this takes place for the first 3 years of the apprenticeship.
There is also a 4th year on the job with no schooling, but you may be able, to be signed off early by your employer (myself) if they agree and are satisfied that you are competent.
Once you have completed the apprenticeship you will to receive a Certificate 3 in Landscape Construction.
You will then be a fully qualified Landscaper with the ability to go on to become a Registered Building practitioner under a limited licence with the VBA to legally carry out any landscaping work above $10,000.
Tasks you will be expected to undertake in your apprenticeship, Concreting, Timber structural work, retaining walls, Planting, Irrigation, Garden Lighting, Turf, Excavation, Paving, reading plans, problem solving ,design and much more.
If you are interested in the position, the process will go like this:
Send me your Resume to:
[email protected]
I will then look at your application to see if you are suitable, if so, I will most likely call you to discuss it with you, if not, you will not hear from me.
If I think you are suitable after speaking to you, I will then ask if you are available to work for a day or two onsite to get to know you etc.. this will essentially be the Job interview.
If that goes well, then you will be hired.
I would like an immediate start, but its not critical.
Car licence is preferred, but for the right candidate, its not needed right away I can try to accommodate, but will eventually be needed.
We really only want ppl who are genuinely interested in Landscaping and are prepared to commit to the 3 years to achieve the qualification.
Email me your Resume to: [email protected]

Job we done a while back that we made a youtube video for.. shared by GardenCAD on there page which has prompted me to share it... all design work for this project was done using Garden Cad, engineers drawings for the Adbri Versa wall for Council approval for both planning and building permit requirements and total landscape plan, its well worth having when you need to draft plans for council for approval.
We did quite abit of landscaping on that project as well, of which i should make another video.. maybe soon.. (im also better at editing videos now too)

This video shows the Construction of a Retaining wall using the Versaloc mortar less blocks. You can see them here: http://www.adbrimasonry.com.au/save-time-...

Have not posted in over 6 months! I completed this little job in Febuary this year in . Its the first time i have used from heavy stuff! And gets hot in the sun... and im not convinced about is eco tag either.... sure its plastic bags and wood pulp.. but how is that eco exactly? People still need to stop using plastic bags, decking like this is not a solution to overuse of plastics and its waste stream. Not to mention the offcuts have to go to landfill (not the fireplace) and the dust from cutting is micro partcles of plastic which have a good chance of entering our wayerways.
Im not even sure what these decks will look like in 15+ years.. and what happens when it finally needs replacing in 70years perhaps? Straight to the tip. I used the old deck for firewood and it will grow back in a forest... the plastic/timber composite is not easily salvaged or re-usable. On the good side no oiling/sealing easy to work with... except the weight of it.

is here and the lawn is growing fast encroaching on your garden beds, especially the more vigorous lawn varietys like and the fine leaf . Make life easier with a decent lawn mower edge, less trimming and whipper snipping.
And like any good picture, it adds a frame to your garden beds and lawn.
Dont setlle for that rots or steel that can be dangerous if it pokes up.
Get a solid edge you can wheel your on and which delineates those garden beds from the lawn. Here we removed the old concrete and created a new entrance with garden edging flowing into it.

A job we completed in january this year. We do it all paving clean and notice how we dont go for the easiest to lay to suit us, but the best looking aesthetically.
