πŸš— Did you know that road rules in Australia can vary depending on where you are?

While there is a national baseline, the rules that apply in Queensland are not always identical to those in Western Australia, New South Wales, or South Australia.

Here are a few areas where rules can differ:
🟑 Mobile phone and hands-free requirements
🟑 Speed limits in school zones and roadwork zones
🟑 Minimum distance when overtaking a cyclist
🟑 U-turn rules at intersections and traffic lights
🟑 Trailer and load requirements for light vehicles

Not sure of the rules for where you are or where you're travelling to? Check out the state roads authories for a quick refresher.

πŸŽ—οΈKnow the rules and drive safe this National Road Safety Week.

πŸŽ—οΈ This week is National Road Safety Week.

We spend every day building and maintaining the roads Australians rely on. Road safety matters deeply to us and our communities.

In 2025, more than 1,300 Australians were killed and 40,000 seriously injured on our roads. Phones, passengers, fatigue, a moment of inattention. That's all it takes for someone's life to be permanently changed or not make it home.

Together we can change these numbers. Keep your eyes on the road, hands on the wheel, and pledge to Drive So Others Survive. πŸ‘‰οΈ https://roadsafetyweek.com.au/home/ /pledge

Today we remember.
ANZAC Day is a day that means something to all of us, whether it's a grandparent who served, a mate in uniform, or simply a quiet moment at the dawn service.
At Colas Australia, we're grateful for the sacrifice of every serviceman and woman, past and present.
Lest we forget.

Happy Colas Environment Day from the Colas Australia team! 🌊

This year, we're highlighting water management across out sites.

Water is part of every job we do. This week our teams are taking part in toolbox talks and working through materials on how we protect waterways, groundwater, and ecosystems in everything we do: from the way we store and handle materials, to how we manage wash-down and stormwater on site.

Proud of the crews out there taking the time this week.

Colas Australia has completed the apron upgrade at Broken Hill Airport in regional NSW.
Working alongside BMD Group for Broken Hill City Council, our teams delivered the complete airside surfacing package β€” 4,600 tonnes of airport specification asphalt, 10,500mΒ² of reinforced geogrid, and 5,800mΒ² of spray sealing, all within a 9-shift programme.
With no permanent asphalt facility in the region, we brought the plant to the project. A mobile asphalt plant and laboratory were mobilised from interstate, with aggregate hauled approximately 6 hours to site.
This upgrade supports increased aircraft parking capacity and future air traffic growth for Broken Hill and the wider region. ✈

πŸ“… Our WA team is in Fremantle this week for IPWEA WA's 2026 State Conference.
Stuart Shand and James Laycock are at booth 12 today and tomorrow. Come and say hello if you're attending.

Tomorrow, Cameron Nisbett will take the stage to present on sustainable sprayed seals and how reducing the use of petroleum-based cutters in spray seal applications is helping us deliver safer, more environmentally considered outcomes for WA roads without compromising performance.

It's the kind of progress that matters for the communities that use these roads every day.
