I re did the pumpkin patch after giving it a rest last season. This year we are growing Atlantic Giant, Wrinkled Butternut and Butternuts.

I found some wrinkled butternut seeds I bought a few years ago on holidays and this is a variety I always wanted to try.

I can't grow pumpkins without growing a couple of giants.

This summer I am experimenting with growing peanuts which I started from seed. Germination was patchy but what we do have growing is powering along and is starting to flower.

Fingers crossed they keep growing and we get a crop from them.

This is a Lady Williams apple which is a late maturing apple with crisp flesh. Similar to a Pink Lady.

Good weather for ducks.

We picked up these Indian Runner ducks today and are going to trial them controlling snails, slugs and other bugs in the orchard and veggie patch.

New additions for future pest control.

These Guinea Fowl keets will patrol an orchard and be responsible for cleaning up pest insects once they get bigger.

Great option for people on acreage looking for something different.

If you're time poor and looking for easy to grow and maintain summer crops in the veggie patch try plants like Corn, Zucchini, Pumpkin and Sweet Potato.

These are all hardy and usually resistant to pests and diseases.
