Ah dear, the pitfalls of having plants on the drawing table.
A wee slug has wriggled out and munched my rough draft, sharing is caring though right?
Growing Home Permaculture is in the move too- but we’re not going far, we’ll be nestling down for a long, slow Summer in beautiful Port Fairy after 20 (ish) magic years in wonderful Woodford, SW Vic.
Come with us- there’s a new garden to be built and I can wait to walk you through.

I people-cared myself back into existence yesterday in full colour and surround sound with a botanical drawing workshop led by the super talented

With thanks also to for her incredible new book, The House that Joy Built, which brought me here, my theory muscles are slowly waking up and I’m busting for my local art supply shop to open tomorrow to get my hands on some softer graphite.

There’s perfectly imperfect messes to be made!

I stood on the bed to see what the dog was barking at….

Which sparked this shot from the upstairs window of the SW end of the food garden. It helps to step back sometimes and remember the bigger picture, the patterns and shapes. It’s bloody beautiful!

Details are great of course, but they can be like quicksand too holding you tight, all sticky-fingers and clingy, long limbs. With claustrophobic, narrow thinking pressing in from all angles.
The bigger picture allows for a full, big breath in.

I should stand on the bed more often.

Permaculture play spaces -so much fun!
As a Mumma of 3, some big, some small, play spaces smack-bang in the middle of my productive gardens have always been a winner!

In fact, some days they’re everything….the key element, the critical design feature, the engine room, the heart-space. Everything.
Our current play-space is cobbled together from bits and bobs from our resource pile, has a Sunflower sun-shade and a snack-border of Strawberries

I couldn’t garden without one. I’d love to hear your thoughts….integrated play spaces…. Yeah or nah?
