An exciting day!

The first of four tiny homes delivered to Ingenia Holidays Rivershore as part of the park’s expansion project.

It’s pretty special to see the first home arrive on site, knowing that by late 2026 these locally designed and built tiny homes will be welcoming guests and becoming part of the Ingenia Holidays Rivershore experience.

We’re proud to be part of the project and grateful to Ingenia for choosing to support local Sunshine Coast businesses.

We can’t wait to see the whole project come together and the first guests enjoying these tiny homes. 🌿

We are a proud THIA member… here’s more on what that actually means…

ℹ What does THIA Accreditation actually mean?

Over recent months we’ve received a number of questions from both members and the public about what THIA Accreditation actually represents.

It’s a great question.

As most would be aware, Australia currently has no construction code specifically designed for Tiny Houses on wheels. While that remains the case, we believe there is still an important role for an independent assessment process that helps consumers identify the legitimate, reputable builders operating within our industry.

Our accreditation process is therefore intentionally multifaceted.

When assessing new members, we consider factors including the company’s reputation, business history and any potential red flags, such as bankruptcies, liquidations or other concerns that may impact consumer confidence.

Increasingly, we’re also contacted by Tiny House buyers who have unfortunately had poor experiences with builders. Where appropriate, this information is considered both as part of our assessment process when evaluating new membership applications, and also during membership renewals.

Perhaps most importantly, we assess the quality of each builder’s construction against current industry best practice.

While there is no formal construction code for Tiny Houses on wheels, there is certainly a recognised standard of workmanship that experienced builders consistently achieve. Our assessment draws on years of practical industry knowledge and experience, reviewing builds both in person and through photos and videos to ensure they meet current benchmarks and best practice.

There is also currently no legal requirement for Tiny House builders to hold any formal qualifications. That said, the overwhelming majority of our members (over 90%) are either qualified builders themselves, or engage qualified builders to oversee construction, while also using licensed and registered trades throughout the build process.

Stay tuned for updates in this space, as we work towards our new Industry Best Practice guidelines over the coming months.

As always, we recommend checking our website database of accredited members before making any purchase decision.

Where are you located?
Do you have a display we can visit?

We’re based in West Woombye on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.

This is where we build every Custom Tiny Co home, and while we don’t have a permanent display centre, we welcome visits to our workshop by appointment.

Depending on what we’re building at the time, you’ll usually have the opportunity to see a tiny home at some stage of construction, take a closer look at our materials and build quality, and meet the people who will be designing and building your home.

And you don’t need to be local to work with us. We deliver Australia-wide, with transport costs estimated from our workshop in West Woombye to your site.

If you’re thinking about building a tiny home and have questions, we’d love to chat.

Visit our website to learn more or book a Discovery Call to start the conversation.

When do you want to move in?

It’s one of the first questions we ask because it helps us work backwards and plan your project properly.

While construction typically takes around three months, the journey starts well before your home enters the workshop.

Allow around six months from the time you begin your project to moving in. That includes designing your home, refining the details, making your selections, preparing plans, ordering materials, manufacturing your trailer and scheduling your build.

Giving yourself enough time means you’re not making rushed decisions, and we can focus on creating a home that’s tailored to the way you want to live.

So, if you have a move-in date in mind for 2027, now is a great time to start the conversation.

Book a Discovery Call and we’ll help you work backwards from your ideal move-in date to create a timeline that works for you.

Who builds your tiny home?

We do.

When you choose Custom Tiny Co, you’re working directly with the people who will design and build your home.

Rick is our owner and licensed builder, with over 20 years’ experience in residential construction. Before establishing Custom Tiny Co, he built custom homes and several tiny homes through his previous business, bringing that experience and attention to detail into every project we undertake.

Together with our small team of dedicated carpenters and the same trusted plumber and electrician on every build, we maintain a consistently high standard of workmanship, quality and craftsmanship.

We believe great homes come from great relationships, which is why we don’t hand you over to a sales team or a different construction crew. From your first conversation through to handover, you’ll know exactly who’s designing and building your tiny home.

If you’re thinking about building a tiny home and have questions, we’d love to chat.

“It feels like a warm hug.” 🤍

We heard this comment so many times while people walked through our 10x3m Sanctuary at the recent Tiny Home Expo, and every single time it made us do a little happy dance.

We love designing cabin-inspired spaces that feel warm, calming and inviting from the moment you step inside.

A big part of that comes down to the careful selection of materials and attention to detail. Our Okoume plywood, in particular, changed a lot of minds about plywood! Its beautiful natural grain and warm tones create a space that feels cosy, timeless and connected to nature.

If you couldn’t make it to the expo, here’s your chance to step inside our 10 x 3m Sanctuary and experience it for yourself.

We’d love to know - what’s your favourite feature?

EDIT

We've loved reading all the comments and questions on our recent Sanctuary walkthrough! ❤️ There are a few questions that keep popping up, so we thought we'd answer them all in one place.

📍 Where are you located?
We're based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia, and we design and build tiny homes that can be delivered Australia-wide.

🏡 Is this an off-the-shelf design?
No. Every home we build is customised to suit each client and how they want to live.

The Sanctuary featured in this video was designed specifically for its owner. For example, they chose to:

Remove the oven.
Adjust the height of the cabinetry.
Change the number and layout of cupboards.
Select premium fixtures and finishes.
Personalise the layout to better suit their lifestyle and land.

No two homes we build are exactly the same.

💰 How much does it cost?
The Sanctuary starts from AUD $165,500. The home featured in this walkthrough is a customised version with a number of upgrades, so it cost approximately AUD $210,000.

We work with each client to tailor the design, level of finish and inclusions to suit their budget and priorities.

🚿 Where's the washing machine? Where's the toilet?

This is a shorter highlights walkthrough, so it doesn't show every part of the home.

Thanks again for all the love and thoughtful questions - we love seeing everyone's ideas and discussing what they'd include in their own tiny home! 😊

One of our favourite parts of the Sunshine Coast Tiny Home Expo wasn’t showing off our tiny homes - it was the conversations.

The people you met at the expo are the same people who will design and build your home. We believe the best homes start with understanding how you want to live - not a sales pitch.

Over the weekend, we spoke with people dreaming of living closer to family, creating an Airbnb retreat, simplifying life, downsizing, and designing homes that could adapt as life changes. No two stories were the same.

That’s exactly why we love custom design. Every home we create starts with listening.

If we met you at the expo and you’re ready to continue the conversation, we’d love to hear from you. And if you couldn’t make it, our workshop door is always open.
