With many businesses going into hibernation it may be necessary to turn your fridge, freezer or cool room off. It could be an ideal opportunity to check the door seals and carry out routine maintenance.
Be sure to clean, disinfect and dry the fridge thoroughly including the door seals.
Check the door seals for cracks and ensure there are no gaps when the doors are closed.
Leave the doors open for a few days to ensure it dries completely. Do not use the power cord to hold the door open. This can damage the seal.
To prolong the life of the seal, and help it remain flexible, food grade silicon can be applied directly to the seal.
Once the fridge is completely dry close the door firmly.
Sometimes the door seals can shrink once they have been in storage so check them again when you turn the fridge on.
