Shade when you need it. Full light when you don't.
Retractable shade screens run beneath the roof of the structure, opening and closing along wires across the growing area.
On bright summer days, the screen closes to cut heat and light over the plants. On overcast days or in winter, it opens so the plants get every bit of available light.
A fixed shadecloth roof gives the same level of shade every day of the year. A retractable screen lets growers change it as the season and the weather change.
