Act Now with Foliar Nutrition 🌱

With recent rainfall across many areas, crops and pastures are primed for growth. The question is... are they getting the nutrition they need to maximise their potential?

Foliar nutrition is one of the most efficient ways to deliver nutrients directly into the plant when timing matters most.

Nature’s underground workforce at play 🍄

Beneath every healthy paddock, fungi form vast living networks that help plants access water and nutrients, build soil structure, and support stronger, more resilient crops from the ground up 🩷

Let YLAD Living Soils help you build mighty networks of fungi in your soil - because what happens underground is what drives everything above it.

A great result from Glenn in Harden, NSW 🌱

After sowing this multi-species crop with YLAD Living Soils Germinate Plus and applying a custom foliar spray program, Glenn received 25mm of rain…

…and the paddock “really took off.”

Foliar nutrition is one of the most efficient ways to deliver nutrients directly into the plant - helping support resilience, photosynthesis and overall plant performance during key growth stages.

Healthy soils + balanced foliar nutrition + rainfall efficiency = stronger farming systems.

22mm of rain… and a billion tiny workers just clocked on 🌧️

After dry paddocks and dusty boots, the rain was welcome - but the real question is what happens next:
how much of it will your soil actually hold?

Because rainfall is only half the story. The other half is underground, where microbes and fungi build “microbial dams” that help soil soak, store, and hold water.

With stronger soil biology and more organic matter, the same rain delivers completely different results - less runoff, more stored moisture, better resilience. 🌱

That’s the focus at YLAD Living Soils: helping your soil keep more of every drop.

🌏 World Earth Day 2026 | Rethinking Soil, Rethinking Farming

At YLAD Living Soils, we believe the future of agriculture starts beneath our feet.

This Earth Day, we’re reflecting on the power of living soils to build resilient farming systems, improve crop performance, and create a more sustainable path forward.

Here’s how growers are making the shift:
🌱 Strengthening soil biology to unlock existing nutrients
🌱 Improving nitrogen efficiency through natural processes
🌱 Using foliar nutrition strategically for in-season support
🌱 Measuring plant health to make smarter decisions

Healthy, biologically active soils don’t just support crops - they drive long-term productivity, profitability, and sustainability.

This Earth Day, take a closer look below ground — because the future of farming starts there.

Rethinking Nitrogen – A Hybrid Approach ⭐️

What if improving yield didn’t mean using more fertiliser… but using it better?

Foliar nutrition is changing the game:
✔ Up to 90% nutrient use efficiency
✔ 12–25% yield improvements
✔ Lower input costs compared to traditional urea

But it starts with understanding what your crop actually needs 🌱

That’s why we’re offering FREE leaf tissue testing when you spend over $200 on NTS Liquid Fertiliser — so you can take the guesswork out of your nutrition program.

When urea runs short… it’s time to look back at the soil 🌱

With Australia heavily reliant on imported nitrogen, many growers are now facing a tough reality. But what if the solution isn’t more inputs — it’s better soil function?

Healthy soils already hold vast reserves of nitrogen. The key is unlocking it through biology.

In Episode 2 of our ‘Urea’ Series, we explore:
✔ Why soil is a living system — not just dirt
✔ How soil biology drives nutrient efficiency
✔ Real-world results reducing nitrogen while maintaining yields

This isn’t just a fertiliser issue — it’s a soil function issue.

When Urea Runs Out… We Have The Plan 🌱

With global fertiliser supplies tightening ahead of the 2026 season, now is the time to rethink how we fuel our crops.

For decades, farming has relied heavily on synthetic nitrogen. But what happens when it becomes scarce or unaffordable?

The answer isn’t more nitrogen — it’s using it better.

At YLAD Living Soils, we’ve spent 24+ years helping Australian growers build resilient systems where soil biology does the heavy lifting.

💡 Real results on farm:
Brian Trethowan & Sons (Culcairn, NSW) ran side-by-side trials comparing their conventional program (MAP + 150 kg/ha urea) with a YLAD-supported approach (Germinate Plus + 50 kg/ha urea).

👉 The outcome?
They used 100 kg less urea per hectare — and still achieved the same wheat yield of 3.6 t/ha.

🗣️ Brian said:
“Last harvest we used 100 kgs less urea on the YLAD trials, applying only 50 kgs per hectare and still achieved the same yield compared to the 150 kg urea application.”
That result raises an important question…

Is the answer really more nitrogen — or better use of the nitrogen we already have?

Join our 3-part Urea Series as we show you how to:
✔️ Increase soil organic matter
✔️ Improve nitrogen use efficiency
✔️ Activate soil microbiology
✔️ Use targeted foliar nutrition

The future of agriculture isn’t fertilising the crop…
It’s fertilising the soil biology.

Follow along over the coming days and build your plan for a more resilient season.
