🚨 Important Announcement 🚨
We've issued an Extraordinary Gazette (preventative measure) to ban the sale and use of room heaters with integral pins that plug into socket outlets.

Why? Because these devices pose serious electrical risks, putting pressure on both the pins and socket outlets.
Even though we changed the standard in December 2023, it has come to our attention that some of these hazardous products have still made it to Australian online marketplaces.

We're reaching out to online platforms to remove these products from sale immediately. Plus, we're working closely with our partner agencies and networks to spread the word far and wide.

Please remember to always purchase electrical items displaying the regulatory compliance mark (RCM). Australians should always exercise caution when buying electrical appliances online that might not meet Australian Safety standards.

From 1 January 2022
All homes or units being sold or leased, or existing leases renewed, will require hardwired photoelectric, interconnected smoke alarms. Non-removable 10-year battery smoke alarms can be installed in place.
