Professor Dr. Mahmud-ul Ameen Auditorium (1954) at the Department of Zoology, University of Dhaka
An age-old multipurpose hall carrying decades of academic and cultural legacy. Our approach was rooted in preserving its heritage character while carefully responding to the evolving aesthetic and functional demands of a contemporary academic space. The design reimagines the hall as a versatile environment capable of accommodating cultural programs, orientations, examinations, and thesis defense sessions with equal ease.
Key design interventions include flexible lighting systems tailored for different occasions, modernized facilities, and the integration of smart technologies to enhance usability and performance. At the same time, we embraced sustainability by reinterpreting and reusing existing furniture, giving them a renewed identity within the updated spatial narrative.
The project stands as a dialogue between past and present—where memory is preserved, and functionality is elevated for the future.
