Architect & Partner FORM.3 Architects, an architectural firm starting its journey in 2010, headed by Ar. Didarul Islam Bhuiyan along with Ar. A K M Muajjam Hosaain. Dilruba continued to contribute the team till 2014. With a vision to contemplate the regional, the environmentally and the socio-cultural aspects; envisioning a way of building that glorifies the past and erects u

pon the future, through the understanding of the context and global meaning. We aim to stride for a change of the attitude towards Architecture in society and search relentlessly to establish a foundation where there are opportunities for the young professionals. We believe, architecture of every region should be responsive towards the uniqueness of its geographic location. While practicing in this tropical delta- ‘Bangladesh’; search for a climatically and culturally responsive design language have been our prior quest. The projects look for an architectural vocabulary that speaks the language of our own context & ethnicity.

“As an accomplished practice, we had the opportunity to pursue diverse set of projects, stretching our boundaries and growing our skills. From small scale projects to large urban scale projects of historical importance, we exercised our opportunities that showcase our philosophy. Historical sites, where the geographical, climatic, historical and cultural evolution evoked and blended itself within the Urban Fabric that often inspires modern Architecture; We consider it a privilege to have been able to use life experiences and dimensions of imagination to weave through the everlasting fabrics, culminating stories that resonates through generations.”

By the Grace of Almighty, we are delighted to share that 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠.𝟯 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 has been awarded the 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗧𝗲𝗻-𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗵𝗮𝗸𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 (𝗗𝗥𝗠𝗖), 𝗠𝗼𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗽𝘂𝗿, organized by the 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗵 (𝗜𝗔𝗕). We extend our sincere thanks to Team N A T I V E works for being an active and integral part of this journey.
This achievement would not have been possible without the tireless dedication and collaborative spirit of our entire team. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to every team member whose commitment, long hours, and thoughtful design approach brought this vision to life.
We also thank the 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗵 (𝗜𝗔𝗕) and 𝗗𝗵𝗮𝗸𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 (𝗗𝗥𝗠𝗖) for organizing a rigorous and transparent competition, and the esteemed jury for recognizing our work. This milestone further encourages us to continue our pursuit of meaningful, context-driven architecture.

𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗳:
Dhaka Residential Model College (DRMC), with its rich academic heritage and expansive historic campus, has long fostered a unique educational culture defined by 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆. Characterized by its linear and sprawling academic blocks, shaded courts, and tradition of vibrant academic life full of entertainment & physical activities—this compound offers more than a physical setting; it represents a philosophy of learning that is deeply embedded in the daily practices and cultural fabric of its long nurtured legacy.
The design approach for the new ten-storied Academic Building begins with a careful reading of this legacy. Understanding DRMC’s 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗵𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗺𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 of its students formed the foundation of the proposal. During the design process, attention was given to the energy of the considered age-group—from junior to secondary school—when their curiosity expands, their confidence develops, and their sense of self begins to form.
With this foundation, the project focuses on 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀. Insights from former DRMC students enriched the process, helping identify needs and introduce features that were previously unaddressed yet necessary for an enriched student experience. The design adds a contemporary layer to the campus while respecting its established character, using courtyards, terraces, and interconnected platforms to extend the institution’s tradition of openness and community. This integrated approach reinforces DRMC’s long-standing educational philosophy while offering a future-ready architectural framework shaped by 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁, 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.

FORM.3 architects' installation at Parallels - A group exhibition by 8 architectural practices

আবর্তনঃ MEMORY LOOP
is an immersive installation that explores the invisible continuity of time, memory, and space, drawing its conceptual and representational language from the project Conservation and Redevelopment of Old Dhaka Central Jail. The site bears witness to the earliest settlement of Dhaka city, subsequently serving as an Afghan and Mughal fort, and later functioning as a prison during the colonial period, from 1788 to 2016. This extended historical continuum and its accumulated collective memory are reflected within the installation through the coexistence of old and new elements, where fragments across time intersect to evoke continuity and timelessness. Emphasizing craftsmanship, materiality, and the deep-rooted ethnicity of place, cultural memory is embedded as an active presence rather than applied ornamentation. Materially, this narrative is grounded through the use of reclaimed bricks drawn from multiple timelines—300-year-old bricks salvaged from demolished residence near the Lalbagh Fort, alongside 100-year-old bricks collected from historic home in Narinda—allowing time itself to be physically embedded within the installation. The installation reveals how past moments persist beyond their physical existence, resonating as subtle reverberations within human experience, and invites the viewer to engage with a spatial field where history, culture, and emotion remain in continuous dialogue. Thus, the practice stands as a continuum—distilling inspiration from the past, asserting strength in the present, and beyond.
