17 MWp Rooftop Solar Installation in Progress | Hameem Textile Zone 🌞🏭

A major step forward in powering Bangladesh’s textile industry with clean energy.

currently executing a 17 MWp rooftop solar project at Hameem Textile Zone (Textile, Denim & Spinning) in Mawna under a full Turnkey EPC model. This large-scale installation reflects the growing shift of industrial leaders toward sustainable, cost-efficient energy solutions.

Once completed, the project will significantly reduce grid dependency, lower operational energy costs, and contribute to long-term carbon reduction, supporting both business efficiency and global sustainability commitments.

Electrum is introducing a new way for people to generate their own renewable energy at home. In collaboration with Svea Solar, today we are launching compact plug-in solar panels that can be installed on balconies, façades, terraces, gardens or carports.

Since balcony solar panels became legally allowed in BD in 2025, many people living in cities or without access to a roof have been looking for accessible solutions. With this new product line, we want to lower the threshold for home-produced renewable energy and support Bangla in becoming more energy independent. Something that couldn't be more relevant today.

The system includes storage options, allowing households to use the solar energy they produce during the day in the evening. Portable, foldable panels and batteries are also part of the range, making renewable energy easier to use on the go or off-grid.

With this launch, we hope to make renewable energy production possible and affordable for even more people, regardless of how much space they have at home.

A significant step forward for Bangladesh’s clean energy journey 🇧🇩☀️

The Country Director of the World Bank, Mr. Jean Pesme, along with a senior delegation from the World Bank Bangladesh office, visited the 6.05 MWp rooftop solar project at GPH Ispat Ltd., one of the largest industrial rooftop solar installations in the country, financed by IDCOL.

The delegation was accompanied by IDCOL’s Executive Director & CEO, Mr. Alamgir Morshed, and senior officials. During the visit, Mr. Pesme appreciated Bangladesh’s progress in scaling up clean energy and highlighted the importance of strong partnerships in achieving sustainable development.

IDCOL reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating renewable energy financing, especially in the rooftop solar segment. With a target of 1,150 MWp by 2030, IDCOL has already financed around 220 MWp, with a robust pipeline ahead.

This project reflects the growing role of the private sector in driving clean energy adoption, powering industries while reducing emissions.

A great example of collaboration between the World Bank and IDCOL in building a greener, climate-resilient Bangladesh.
