Project Brief:

The residential apartment complex is a retirement home for an association comprised of a group of friends and their families.
The building’s iconic formal expression is based on the lively disposition of the client group and is designed to boldly pay homage to their generation. In fact, the geometry was formed by boldly expressing pure forms such as squares, rectangles, and triangles to meet the functional and contextual requirements of the site which is south-facing.
The façade treatment utilizes the concept of placement of deep balconies on the South side of residences in warm-humid tropical climates. The deep zigzag balconies are borne from the functional necessity of shading from the glaring sunlight and inviting in the wind from South-East direction in Bangladesh’s tropical climate. Likewise, the zigzag shapes are reversed on the North Façade to block the prevalent cold wind from the North-West direction in winter and simultaneously invite the warmth of the west inclined Sun. A barrier of lush green and gardening provision is provided in all available spaces and balconies while keeping the clientele’s retirement age and leisure in mind.
