Vuu-Maatra Consultants “Vuu-Maatra” words come from “Vuumir-maatra”
which indicates dimension of a land. Or, we can say, a building exists over an open
developing land in hidden form.

“Vuu-Maatra” words come from “Vuumir-maatra”
which indicates dimension of a land .We believe
hat a building is a hidden dimension of an open land. What type of
building? How it will look like? What will be its
structural system, construction method &
material? The answer of these all questions is
related to that land on which it will be built. Because the soil condition, the shape, the location,

the climate, context, surrounding culture and
socio-economic condition of the land act as a set
of knives to give a proper shape to a building
form. These all factors always exists with the
land by nature and shaping the hidden building in
the invisible reality.We just find out that building
from its hidden form to visible form, through
our dedication of works, knowledge of
experience and creative thoughts.

We participated in the IAB (Institute of Architects Bangladesh) Open Architectural Design Competition titled “Open Architectural Design Competition for the Design of a Ten-Storied Academic Building for Dhaka Residential Model College (DRMC), Mohammadpur, Dhaka.” Although we did not secure a winning position, the experience itself was immensely rewarding and fulfilling. The process allowed us to explore ideas deeply rooted in academic architecture, urban context, and campus life, while also challenging us to think critically, collaboratively, and creatively under real competition constraints. From concept development to final submission, the journey was filled with intense discussions, design iterations, learning moments, and shared excitement as a team. Most importantly, it strengthened our teamwork and expanded our understanding of institutional design within a dense urban setting like Dhaka. We are truly grateful to every team member for their dedication, commitment, and collaborative spirit—this experience was a meaningful milestone and a valuable learning chapter for all of us.

Built-in the rapidly growing urban settings of Aftabnagar, an area of eastern Dhaka, the project represents the true aesthetics of a contextual, cultural landscape incorporating local materials and artisans with a blend of sustainable design features. The building serves as both a residence and a design studio for the architect, spanning three stories and nestled in a modest plot of approximately 200 square meters. Despite space constraints, the challenge was embraced as an opportunity to create a serene haven amidst the urban chaos.
