Julie Vermoortel joins the speaker line-up of SPRYG Real Estate Academy Scholenbouw & Renovatie 2026, taking place Wednesday, 18 March in Antwerp.

As part of a programme addressing the urgent challenges in school infrastructure, she will present the Egied Van Broeckhoven School in Brussels.

A former bottling plant in Sint-Jans-Molenbeek was transformed into an open, circular learning environment. Delivered within the DBFM programme Scholen van Vlaanderen, the project focuses on material reuse, sustainable techniques and an intelligent spatial organisation.

The result is an inclusive learning environment, with stacked outdoor spaces, open learning landscapes and multifunctional use, welcoming both students and neighbours.

During her session, Julie will share how circular ambitions and societal integration can be realised through design, and what lessons a PPS approach offers for the schools of tomorrow.

The Arch Brussels shortlisted for RES Awards 2025
Circular office renovation contributing to a future-oriented North District

We’re proud to share that the Arch project has been shortlisted for the Real Estate Society Awards 2025, in the commercial development category, organised by RES vzw.

With The Arch, B2Ai delivers an exceptional circular office renovation on the edge of the Brussels North District. The office building, originally constructed in the 1990s, has been redesigned as an open, inviting and future-proof urban building. By introducing public functions at ground level, The Arch marks an important step in the district’s transformation into a mixed and vibrant urban neighbourhood.

The collaboration between CORES Development and B2Ai architects has resulted in a highly efficient and future-proof office building. Crelan Bank will tailor the building as its new headquarters, reinforcing its commitment to a future-oriented and sustainable workplace.

De Kazerne Ghent shortlisted for RES Awards 2025
Former military barracks transformed into a vibrant urban district

We’re proud to share that the Kazerne project has been shortlisted for the Real Estate Society Awards 2025, in the (semi-) public development category, organised by RES vzw.

The historic Leopold Barracks in Ghent has undergone a profound transformation in recent years, evolving from a 19th-century military bastion into an open urban district. What was once a closed enclave is now an inviting urban quarter where public facilities, housing, work and social interaction come together around a new green neighbourhood park.

At the heart of the two-hectare site lies the redesigned Paradeplein, one of the largest — and until recently hidden — squares in Ghent. The former paved inner courtyard has been replaced by an accessible neighbourhood park that connects seamlessly to the surrounding streets. Located on Ghent’s inner ring road, opposite Citadel Park and embedded in the museum and arts district, the site is now connected to a network of public spaces and cultural institutions.

In addition to the new Provincial Government Building of East Flanders, De Kazerne comprises a mix of apartments, houses, ateliers, classrooms, a childcare centre and a hotel.

The redevelopment is the result of an intensive collaboration between B2Ai architects , Sergison Bates architects and 360 architecten, commissioned by Provincie Oost-Vlaanderen and realised through a public–private partnership with Matexi, Ciril, Democo Group & Nelson Group.

Next week, Pieterjan Vermoortel will take the stage at the World Architecture Festival in Miami, not only to present our WAF Design Award finalist project Roelevard Roeselare in the Completed Buildings – Mixed-Use category, but also as a jury member for the Completed Buildings – House and Villa category. Proud to see our work and expertise represented on a global stage!

We’re excited to share that not one but two of our recent collaborations have been shortlisted for the World Architecture Festival 2025.

In Stad Roeselare, the Roelevard project, designed together with Norwegian partner Snøhetta, has been recognised in the Completed Buildings – Mixed-Use category for transforming the former railway station site into a lively, multifunctional neighbourhood.

And in Zandbergen, the new GO Basisschool Klim Op Zandbergen, designed together with Danish partner Rosan Bosch Studio, has been selected in the WAF Interiors – Education category.

World Architecture Festival will welcome architects and designers from around the world for three days of live awards judging, talks, exhibitions, and networking. Shortlisted projects will be presented to international juries during the festival, held at the Miami Beach Convention Center from 12 to 14 November.

Bart Decloedt, Director B2Ai interior design, has been invited to speak at the Workspace Design Show Amsterdam on Thursday, 6 November.

Taking place at the RAI exhibition centre, the event will bring together some of the most creative minds in workplace design — from global brands and local manufacturers to architects, designers, and end-user occupiers.

Bart will be joining the Workspace Design Talk at 12:25 in Hall 5 to reflect on 'The hospitality effect: Creating places people want to be by blending office space with hospitality and community’.

Expect bold ideas, hands-on insights, and thought-provoking discussions as leading voices explore the future of workspace strategy, culture, wellbeing, sustainability, and beyond.
