What will this winter be like?

Even scientists cannot say for sure. That’s why you should choose a roof that’s ready for the unpredictable European winter: frost today, thaw tomorrow, freezing temperatures again the day after — all within just a few days.

❄️ When facing snow and frost, Metrotile is ready. The core of Metrotile is profiled steel, which gives the panels high rigidity and mechanical strength.
❄️ Thaw → frost → thaw again. The steel is protected by a Zincalume layer: aluminium creates a long-lasting barrier against corrosion, while zinc provides additional protection, including at edges and areas of local damage. This is especially important in winter when roofs regularly come into contact with meltwater.
☀️ What if the sun comes out after the frost? Metrotile’s external coating system consists of natural stone granules and a protective acrylic layer that shields the surface from both weathering and UV radiation, helping the roof retain its colour and appearance for longer.

But no — this is one of our completed projects: the roof of a building near the Shake Pepper mineral spring in Wysowa, southern Poland.

The natural surroundings set the rules: wood, stone, greenery — and a roof that had to become part of the composition. That is why the result feels so organic: the roof complements the landscape instead of drawing attention away from it.

The Golden Gate Bridge opened in 1937, becoming the longest main suspension bridge in the world. Since then, its steel structure has constantly operated in an environment highly favourable to corrosion: high humidity, fog, strong winds, and salty sea air. Yet 89 years later, the bridge is still in service. And one of the key reasons is its protective paint system, which prevents the metal from corroding.

When renovating a roof, the first step is often demolition: removing the existing covering, loading it, transporting it, and disposing of the waste. In a typical renovation, removing 100 m² of roofing can cost around €2,000.

Here is the good news: you don't necessarily have to remove the entire old roof in the first place!

Thanks to its low weight, a Metrotile stone-coated steel roof can, in certain cases, be installed over the existing roof on new battens, without requiring full removal. That’s roughly how we imagine the vibe of Metrotile’s Roman profile.
