Yes, we do that too!

After 10 months from start to finish we are happy to be handing our client thier home back with a newly updated 400 AMP service! After renovating the main floor, this home owner decided to continue improvements to thier home. Those improvements included adding electric heated floors, additional heated ventilation systems, and future proofing for 2 Electric Vehicle chargers in the garage. His existing 200 amp service was simply not going to cut it. Common Ground Electric handled every part of this upgrade which involved a land acquisition from the city of Calgary, coordinating Enmax for new transformers and lines in the right of way, excavation, landscaping, and of course… the electrical. What a cool project to be able to be trusted with!

Turning up the heat!

This is what a loose connection looks like under load. A house can be standing for years without issue. We typically find these types of things when home owners change the way they use a space.

The usual suspects are portable heaters and portable air conditioners. These items draw enough power to warrant them being on a dedicated circuit. When used on a standard shared circuit the electricity flows through every connection between the panel and the device.

That means the loose connection can be (and often is) on a receptacle that’s in a different room! The breaker often doesn’t trip (unless it’s an arc fault type) and we get the call that things simply stopped working.
