When I get a rodent call in October, I'm not only interested in where the homeowner heard scratching or found droppings.
I want to know how the rodents got inside in the first place.
That's why I usually check both inside and outside the home. I look around foundations, utility lines, vents, garage doors, exterior doors, and other small openings that could provide access.
Then I check the areas where activity has been noticed, such as garages, basements, storage rooms, and wall areas.
Dealing with the rodents already inside is important, but leaving the entry points open means the same problem can happen again. In October, that's especially important because colder weather gives rodents more reason to look for shelter indoors.
