We joined Lakehead University, the City of Barrie, Mayor Alex Nuttall and community partners to celebrate the official opening of the new Lakehead University Barrie STEM Hub.

For Rutherford, this project represents much more than the completion of a building. It represents what can happen when a community comes together around a shared vision for its future.

The new STEM Hub establishes Lakehead University's first campus in Barrie, transforming spaces at 24 Maple Avenue and 5 Ross Street into more than 26,000 sq. ft. of modern classrooms and labs for engineering, mechatronics and computer science.

Soon, these spaces will welcome their first students. In the years ahead, they will become places where ideas are tested, careers begin, connections are made and the next generation of talent takes shape.

We're proud to have played a role in bringing this vision to life alongside Lakehead University and the City of Barrie.

Congratulations to everyone who helped reach this milestone. We look forward to seeing what gets built here next.

We had a chance to spend the day with Rick Hyde, our site super in charge of leading the redevelopment of Innisfil Beach Park, one of the Town of Innisfil's largest waterfront infrastructure investments.

Valued at over $10.3 million, the project is transforming the park into a more accessible, modern, and year-round destination while preserving its role as one of Simcoe County's premier waterfront recreation areas.

The wait is over... Kidstown is back!

We're incredibly proud to celebrate the official reopening of the newly reimagined L'Amoreaux Kidstown Water Park, just in time for summer.

As the General Contractor, Rutherford Contracting was honoured to help bring this exciting community destination back for everyone to enjoy. For decades, Kidstown has been a place where Toronto families have created lasting summer memories, and for us to have played a role in delivering its next chapter for our future generations has been deeply rewarding.

The revitalized park features exciting new water play attractions, upgraded splash areas, improved accessibility, modern washrooms and change facilities, shaded seating areas, enhanced landscaping, and Indigenous placekeeping elements that honour the history and traditions of the Huron-Wendat community.

Projects like this are not built by one team. They are built by the right people coming together, and we'd like to recognize everyone who helped make it happen.

A sincere thank you to the City of Toronto Parks, Forestry, and Recreation, the project management and design teams, Indigenous advisors, and artist Catherine Tàmmaro, whose vision helped shape this incredible community space.

We're also grateful to our outstanding project partners and trades, including ABC Recreation, who brought the water play features to life, and Curbside Construction, for delivering concrete work that quite literally built the foundation of this park

Finally, thank you to our entire Rutherford Contracting team, along with every consultant, subcontractor, supplier, and trade partner who helped contribute throughout construction.

Congratulations to everyone involved in delivering a space that will bring joy to Toronto families for many summers ahead. We hope everyone has a chance to get out and make new memories at Kidstown this season!

CTV News recently visited the Lakehead University Barrie STEM Hub to provide the community with a construction update and share the projected completion timeline.

As General Contractor, Rutherford Contracting has been leading the construction and coordination of Barrie's first university campus. Working alongside Lakehead University, the City of Barrie, and the project team, we're helping create a modern learning environment that will support future students.

Our team had a great time at CAWIC's 20th Annual Spring Golf Day this week at Piper's Heath Golf Club!

As the event's Photography Sponsor, Rutherford Contracting was proud to support the Canadian Association of Women in Construction, an organization dedicated to advancing the success of women across Canada's construction industry. Women currently represent approximately 14% of the construction workforce, the highest it's ever been, and having initiatives like these will create opportunities to support the next generation of industry leaders.

We are proud to share the completion of our latest refresh station at Canada's Wonderland.

This project was delivered even faster than our 2025 Snoopy Land build and was built entirely from scratch. The scope of work included tree removal, excavation, framing, forming, and pouring. Finished with FRP, Maibec siding, custom millwork, a prefab metal roof, and fresh post & picket fencing that tied the whole build together beautifully. We also handcrafted a 6-foot cupola!

None of this happens without the right people. A huge thank you to our FM team, who drove this from start to finish. And to our site division, who jumped in and helped push this project across the finish line.

We are incredibly proud of this build, and grateful as always for the opportunity to do what we do best within Wonderland.

Progress is coming along nicely at North Maple Regional Park!

North Maple Regional Park is one of the biggest and most ambitious public park projects ever undertaken in the City of Vaughan. The park spans roughly 900 acres and is being transformed from a former landfill site into a major recreational and environmental destination for future generations.

This $26 million development will include nature playgrounds, waterplay areas, skating trails, boardwalks, accessible pathways, picnic spaces, and year-round amenities designed for people of all ages.
