Back to the shop floor for this week's meet the team. Every location has one person the crew looks to when the job gets complicated. In Bathurst, that's:

๐— ๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐˜ ๐— ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜‚.

Mathieu Vienneau-Richard is our Shop Supervisor in Bathurst, NB โ€” and the lead problem solver on our shop floor. When a motor comes in with a fault nobody's seen before, or a job needs a part that doesn't exist off the shelf, Mathieu is the one the technicians turn to.

He's the link between the plan and the work: lining up jobs, chasing down shafts and components, keeping the floor moving, and making sure every unit that leaves the shop is one we'd put our name on. Calm when the pressure's on, hands-on when it counts.

Mathieu joined Rogers in 2013 after seven years as a technician in the Royal Canadian Navy, and spent his first six years with us on the road as a field service technician, solving problems on customer floors across the Maritimes. That's the perspective he brings to running ours: he knows what it costs a customer when a motor is down, and he runs the shop like it.

Thirteen years in, Mathieu is a big part of why our team runs the way it does.

Thanks for keeping the floor steady, Mathieu.

3,500 kW. About 4,700 horsepower. And it had to come out.

Look at the photo โ€” that's one of our technicians standing next to it. That's the scale we're talking about.

Three of them spent the week on a mine site in Atlantic Canada, pulling the in-service motor off the ball mill and putting the customer's spare into service.

Here's the part nobody sees. Full inspection on the spare before it went anywhere near the mill. Every single control wire labelled and photographed. Main leads marked so that mill turns the right way the moment it starts โ€” get that wrong and you've got a very expensive problem on your hands.

The rheostat came back to our Stewiacke shop for a full inspection, clean and test.

Proud of this crew. That's a week well spent.

Planning a mill outage? Talk to us before the window opens.

Next up in our meet the team series:

Pierre Legere is our Shop Manager in Bathurst, NB โ€” the person keeping our HQ shop humming, and the one our other location managers call when they need a resource, a second opinion, or a hand solving something the first look didn't fix.

Pierre Joined the Rogers team in 2011 as a machinist, earned his Red Seal Machinist certification in 2014, and grew from there โ€” advancing to Reliability Manager before stepping into the Shop Manager role he holds today. Fifteen years in, his depth in motor analysis is one of the quiet reasons our operation runs the way it does.

Pierre also plays a vital role in keeping our quality control system top-notch and making sure our technicians on the floor have the tools, guidance, and backup they need to do the job right.

Thanks for 15 years of leading by example.

Our team is heads-down and hard at work this Monday morning โ€” sights and sounds from our Stewiacke shop floor.

Stewiacke is our closest shop to the Halifax Regional Municipality, and the crew here keeps Nova Scotia's essential industries moving: municipal water and wastewater, marine and fisheries, food processing, hospitals, and the manufacturing plants that quietly run the region.

When one of those motors, pumps, or drives goes down, the call comes here. We answer, we assess, and we get it turned around โ€” fast.

Proud of the team out there getting it done today.

This week's face of the shop: Ron Watson โ€” Purchasing Manager.

Ron joined the team in 2006, and this year he celebrates 20 years with Rogers. He looks after the supplies and everything else our locations count on, working alongside our shop managers every day to make sure their teams have what they need to keep going. Every job that ships on time starts with the work Ron does behind the scenes.

Twenty years of keeping the shops moving โ€” here's to you, Ron. ๐Ÿ‘

Over the next few weeks of the summer, we're going to introduce you to the people behind the work at Rogers. First up:

Meet Dale.

Since 2006, Dale has been our Inside Sales Guru in Bathurst โ€” quoting service work, helping customers spec new motors, sourcing custom units, organizing rush shipping, and jumping through the hoops to save the day. Day or night, whenever our customers or team need him, Dale answers.

That makes him one of the most important links in our operation โ€” the manifold between the shop managers and the customer.

This October, he hits 20 years with Rogers. Two decades of quiet, careful work that keeps the office, the technicians, and the customer on the same page.

Here's to 20 more.

Something new is taking shape at our Mount Pearl shop. ๐Ÿฆž

We're building a prototype mobile live lobster holding unit โ€” a research project supporting the marine industry. A self-contained 40' container that keeps up to 10,000 lbs of lobster in chilled, oxygenated seawater, deployable to any coastal community.

As pump experts, we're engineering the complete package in-house: water management, filtration, and controls.

Field testing starts later this summer.

Got a challenge for us? Let us know.

Always on. Always ready.

When a motor this size goes down, time is the enemy and all hands are on deck.

2,500 HP. 200 RPM. A stator standing roughly 16 feet tall.

This slow-speed Ball Mill motor came in with a full sweep of failed electrical tests โ€” megger, PI, resistance, surge, hi-pot. The insulation was done.

A full rewind. Stripped to the frame, new windings, tested, certified, and back on the truck.

Hours of work, 60 seconds of footage. ๐Ÿ‘‡

We are used to seeing all shapes and sizes of motors. Here's a spotlight on something a bit different that we commonly see in our shop.

Locomotive traction motors are a different breed โ€” built to take punishment from years of pulling thousands of tonnes through rough conditions. When one comes in for service, the whole shop reorganizes around it.

That's the kind of work our team has built decades of expertise in. From mining-line locomotives to industrial rail, when railway motors fail, the freight stops. We get it moving again.
