STANDING TREES.

There’s something special about watching months of craftsmanship come together in a matter of days.

We spent two months in our shop cutting, fitting and preparing this timber frame by hand. Then we brought it to site and stood it in two days.

That’s timber framing.

Traditional craftsmanship combined with modern building practices creates more than a beautiful home. It creates a structure designed for strength, longevity and generations of use.

COMING TOGETHER.

The black soffit is going on, and it’s already changing the whole look of this build.

This week we keep moving:
roof trims, black metal roofing, and fascia — getting the exterior closed in and bringing those clean black details together.

There’s still plenty of work ahead, but this is the stage where the vision really starts showing up.

Our building principles protect against mistakes. Although they will happen we try to keep them small. Level,straight,square and plumb. Triple check your measurements and have someone double check your layout. Countless times have we had to build on slack footings, walls in the wrong spot and measurements that are off. Cleaning up someone else’s problem. The details start in the planing. Did you know we pour our own foundations, frame the house too along with exterior and interior finishing. Being able to control the details from the beginning saves us money in the long run. Let’s is ease the burden of building. With our Project management team and honoured licensed carpenters we can build your dream.

Sunday funday. 5/8 t&g sheathing is superior when it comes to 7/16 OSB. We’ve eliminated H clips, strapping and their labor. These savings in the long run are big in the performance of both your home and your balance sheet.

We couldn’t ask for a better team here at Flint & Steel. 💪

Dedicated to the task, not the week. That’s the mindset it takes to keep a build moving forward.

Right now, the priority is getting this roof on and the home weather-tight. Once we have that critical milestone behind us, the rest of the build can keep moving without Mother Nature dictating the schedule.

The sub-trades are coming in Wednesday to prep the slab plumbing/insulation and infloor heating.
We will continue on the rain screen in preparation for windows and siding while we wait for our steel to show up.

Every day counts. Every detail matters. And this crew keeps pushing.

Only a few weeks away and the Kilgore Island is operational. Casings and baseboards are next. Exterior staining and some fresh cedar decking to cap it off.

The final unveiling is coming in early September.

The details are everywhere in this project. Custom is in our blood.

The last 2% is the hardest—and the most important. It’s where all the planning, craftsmanship and attention to detail come together.

We’ve put a lot into this one, and we can’t wait to show you the finished product.
