rcs began as a specialized retail contractor in 1996 doing “live” grocery store renovations for clients such as Pete Luckett of Pete’s Frootique and Sobeys Inc. Our passion for our work, and our treasured client relationships have enabled us to grow steadily since our inception. Our Safety Manager, Chelcea Driscoll, has been recognized with the Canadian Occupational Safety (COS) Young Achievers 2026 Award, a national honour celebrating rising leaders in workplace health and safety.

Chelcea has made a huge impact across our projects, helping strengthen everything from PPE practices to electrical safety and subcontractor management. Her leadership plays a big part in keeping our teams safe every day.

Valerie Penney, Senior Project Manager at rcs construction, was recently featured in the NLCA Spotlight published in partnership with Atlantic Business Magazine.

A graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland in Civil Engineering, Valerie has more than 20 years of experience in project management, estimating, and commercial construction.

At rcs construction, Valerie works closely with clients, consultants, and project teams to help deliver successful projects across Newfoundland and Labrador. The feature also highlights her involvement in the successful renovation of No Frills at Village Mall in St. John's, where strong coordination and teamwork helped keep the project on schedule despite supply chain challenges.

In addition to her work with the company, Valerie currently serves as the 2026–2027 Board Chair of the Newfoundland and Labrador Construction Association (NLCA).

As Valerie shared in the feature:
