The three men arrested on February 1, 2026, by Surrey Police Service following a shots fired incident are now charged with Criminal Code offences.

On February 1, 2026, at approximately 3:50 am, SPS members assigned to Project Assurance, working in collaboration with SPS’s Major Crime Section, were patrolling in Surrey’s Crescent Beach neighbourhood when reports came in of shots fired and a small fire outside a residence near Crescent Road and 132 Street. The three accused were arrested by SPS officers a short time later near 28 Avenue and 140 Street after getting into a rideshare vehicle.

SPS’s Major Crime Section took over the investigation and the three men – Harjot Singh, Taranveer Singh and Dayajeet Singh Billing – have now been charged with one count of discharging a firearm into a place contrary to section 244.2(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming.

All three have been remanded in custody until February 5. SPS has confirmed they are all foreign nationals and has engaged Canada Border Services Agency.

Proposed Theft of Crown Land
I just returned from a council meeting in Minden regarding the proposed Haliburton Highlands Land Trust and a few questions come to mind.
During the meeting, we were told by representatives of the H.H.L.T. that climate change and endangered species needed to be addressed. We were also told numerous times that nothing was going to change.
So, if nothing is going to change, why does a private entity want to take control of over 247,000 acres of crown and private land.
We already have numerous government departments, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and Ministry of Environment, to name just two, whose mandate it is to protect the environment and all species. These are government ministries supported by our tax dollars and I do not believe we need another layer of publicly supported bureaucracy.
When asked if this land grab would affect the Rail Trail, the speaker said the parcel in question was nowhere near the Rail Trail.
This is a misrepresentation of facts as the IB&O Trail and the Rail Trail from Lindsay to Haliburton both run directly through the proposed area.
When asked if hunting, fishing and trapping would still be allowed, the answer was yes, but no mention was made of” by whom”. Will these activities remain status quo or will only certain members of society be allowed to participate.
In conclusion, if there are already publicly funded Provincial and Federal agencies to address the concerns of the Haliburton Highlands Land Trust, and as their representatives said,” nothing is going to change “, what is their real agenda?
Crown land is for the legal enjoyment of all Canadian citizens and not private interest groups. Stay in your lane H.H.L.T.

Testing out our new Blacks Creek model 2500 firewood processor. Not only will it handle material up to 23 inch diameter, we have successfully been able to handle logs up to 22 ft. long due to the extended infeed deck. It also comes equipped with a hydraulically powered saw and hydraulically adjusted 4 way or 6 way splitting head.
