Great builds don’t happen because of one person.

They’re the result of a team bringing different strengths, perspectives and expertise to the table — from the first drawings to the final details on site.

🏛 Kip Phillips | Founder & Architectural Specialist
Muskoka born and raised, Kip founded North Echo in 2012 with a vision for creating thoughtful, custom homes that belong in the landscapes around them. With a background in Architectural Technology and engineering, he remains closely involved throughout the design and build process — and you’ll regularly find him on site making sure every detail lives up to the North Echo standard.

💪 Ben Bennett | Senior Tech
Around here, Ben is known as the “Everything Man” — and for good reason. With expertise spanning carpentry, drafting and project management, he brings an incredible eye for detail to every stage of a build. He’s also a driving force behind the transparency and careful budget management we believe every client deserves.

🦸‍♀️ Valentina Plavinskis | Project Coordinator
If there are a hundred moving pieces, chances are Valentina knows exactly where every one of them needs to be. Our resident “Superwoman” keeps projects organized, timelines moving and communication flowing, while building the strong client relationships that make the process feel as good as the finished result.

🤝 Emily Bridle | Office Administrator
Every great site team needs an equally strong operation behind it. Emily keeps the North Echo back end running smoothly — managing the details, organization and day-to-day administration that allow the rest of our team to stay focused on designing and building exceptional spaces.

Progress, one layer at a time.

With the foundation taking shape, the vision for this Camel Lake retreat is beginning to emerge. Even in the early stages, you can start to appreciate how the cottage will settle into the landscape — carefully positioned to embrace the surrounding forest, contours of the Canadian Shield, and expansive lake views beyond.

Every project is built through a series of thoughtful decisions, each one laying the groundwork for the next.

We’re looking forward to sharing more as this lakeside build continues to take shape.

The more time you spend with this project, the more you notice that it’s not just what was built — but where and how it was built.

Every angle reveals another conversation between architecture and the landscape. The exposed Canadian Shield, the forest elevation, and the expansive views of Lake Joseph weren’t an afterthought — they were the foundation for every design decision.

A reminder that thoughtful design doesn’t ask the landscape to adapt. It begins by listening to it.

Founded by Kip Phillips, North Echo has grown into a trusted team known for delivering high-quality builds rooted in care, collaboration, and attention to detail at every stage of the process. Last week’s water levels brought some wild conditions across Muskoka 🌊

Our team was out on the lakes ensuring our clients’ properties were protected - raising items in boathouses, monitoring conditions, and taking the extra steps needed to minimize damage wherever possible.

In the middle of it all, we also came across a stray boat drifting through open water. We were able to tow it to safety and help get it back to its owner; a small moment, but one that speaks to the kind of care we bring to every project - and to our Muskoka community 🤝

Getting closer to the finish line on Camel Lake ✨

This modern Muskoka cottage is starting to take shape - defined by clean lines, sharp finishes, and a design that sits naturally within its surroundings.

Inside, it’s the details that bring everything together: vaulted ceilings in the kitchen, floor-length windows that draw in the landscape, and custom elements - from floor grates to built-ins - designed to blend seamlessly into the space.

Every decision here is intentional - and designed to capture the beauty of our Muskoka environment.
