Just a little Saturday fun.
I was contracted to remove a rotten silver maple leaning over a clientโ€™s house. The tree had severe fractures throughout its trunk.

We carefully dismantled the tree using multiple rigging points to minimize unnecessary force and weight while working in the canopy.

Today, we assisted in the removal of eight softwood trees that had developed significant rot.

We were contacted by Dirt Force to remove trees from one of their properties.

Gary Faulkenham, owner of Dirt Force, provided a mini excavator on site to ensure an efficient and safe method of felling the trees. This mechanical advantage provided added security beyond the use of a single rope and a person pulling the other end.

We successfully removed the eight trees and cleared the site before lunchtime, leaving time to complete another project.

Aspen Tree care has been very busy recently, addressing a significant project at Molega Lake.

The team has been actively removing hazardous trees that could pose a threat to buildings and other structures.

Additionally, they have managed the removal of a dead top of a white pine over a gazebo by the water. The team has also been trimming dead branches and overhanging limbs around the property to ensure safety.

A skid steer was used on site to ensure a small footprint, which allowed us to move wood and brush around in a timely manner.

Our expertise in using the appropriate equipment and tools for the job is what distinguishes us.

Thanks to Jtโ€™s Mobile and marine for the assistance on the project.

We successfully removed a Norway Maple and two spruce trees in Luenburg that posed a threat to two homes.

The removal required careful consideration of service lines, a substantial wooden fence, propane tanks and lines, and the two homes.

The Aspen Tree Care crew employed negative and positive rigging, speed lining, and other techniques to dismantle and safely bring down the trees.

The client handled the clean up from this to utilize the wood for their home.

We are committed to excellence and professionalism in all our work. If you have any problem or hazardous trees, please contact us for a free quote.

The gray-green patches spreading across your tree bark aren't a disease. They're not killing the tree. They're not even feeding on it.

That's lichen โ€” a partnership between an alga and a fungus that uses bark as a surface, the way a billboard uses a wall. The lichen doesn't pe*****te the bark, doesn't steal nutrients, and doesn't weaken the tree. It just needs something solid to grow on.

If anything, lichen is a sign your air is clean. Lichens are extremely sensitive to air pollution โ€” they absorb everything directly from the atmosphere with no roots to filter through. Heavy lichen growth on your trees means the air quality in your neighborhood is good enough to support organisms that can't tolerate sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, or particulate matter.

Your tree is healthier than the one in the subdivision where the bark is bare.

Lichens also host a micro-ecosystem. Tiny insects, mites, and spiders live in the lichen layer. Birds โ€” especially warblers and nuthatches โ€” pick through it for food. Some hummingbirds use lichen fragments to camouflage their nests.

๐ŸŒฟ If your trees have lichen:

- Leave it alone โ€” it's beneficial and indicates clean air
- Scraping it off damages bark and removes a food source for birds
- Heavy lichen growth โ‰  sick tree. It means the opposite.

The tree you thought was sick is wearing a certificate of good health. ๐ŸŒฑ
