Meet Wayne: an experienced superintendent, ticketed carpenter and a CFL superfan! When he’s not cheering at a Grey Cup game dressed as a “Booze Brother”, this Winnipeg native loves to unwind by the campfire with his family exploring provincial parks. No stranger to going through hard times, Wayne values the importance of having a place to go and people to turn to. As a member of ETRO’s Mental Health Committee he’s eager to create a safe place for all members of the .

In order to make change you have to start from within. That’s why it’s no surprise that the has been named one of BC’s top employers! Here’s to awesome community members being acknowledged for their great work - congratulations!

We think BC Children’s Hospital Foundation is a pretty amazing place. Others agree – we’re excited to share that for the 11th consecutive year, we have earned the honour of being named one of BC’s Top Employers.

We celebrated the announcement with s’mores, as some things are just better together. As a Foundation we take pride in our focus on building a dynamic, team-oriented work environment. In addition to a nine-day fortnight work schedule and a commitment to professional development, we provide our employees with meaningful work, opportunities for advancement and a comprehensive compensation package based on a healthy work-life balance.

Want to see a map of the UBC campus? Take a look at your feet!

Our team just completed an intricate process of pouring, grinding, polishing and staining the floor at our Live at UBC Welcome Centre site. The outcome? Beautiful polished concrete floors that map the UBC Campus. No more excuses about getting lost between classes anymore.

We’re proud to be making it public: taking our commitment to safe, diverse and inclusive workplaces and putting people first and putting our name on it by signing the Builder’s Code pledge.

It takes the commitments we live every day, and turns them into measurable actions ourselves, and others in our online and offline communities, can take on and live out, day by day.

Things like:

We hire based on skill and experience and compensate all employees at fair market value regardless of gender, race, religion, or ethnicity.

We identify and remove barriers to training and career development; creating equitable opportunities for all employees.

We ensure the health, safety and well-being of everyone on the Worksite by providing a work environment free from harassment, hazing, and bullying.

We promote education, awareness and training on the Acceptable Worksite behaviour that positively impacts our community, our company, and our employees.

We pledge to continuously back up our commitment through our actions, without compromise.

As a team, we’re proud to live this pledge every day. And, to join a community of businesses and teams doing the same. We’re making progress, and have a ways to go. Thank you to the Builder’s Code community for helping us stand more publicly in our commitment to safe and inclusive workplaces!

While every day is mental health day, standing up and speaking out about the spectrum of experiences that make up matters here on Bell Let’s Talk day. In an industry that’s historically encouraged keeping things in, we’re taking a different approach: encouraging the ETRO crew to share how they’re really doing.

That’s why we created the ETRO Mental Health Committee; a team dedicated to empowering our people to tend to their mental health with the same attention they place on their physical well being. Their aim is to end the stigma around mental health and expand the understanding and awareness of the spectrum of mental illness and mental wellbeing that exists across our team, across our country, and around the world.

We’re in this together - and know that by rallying around one another, we’re exponentially stronger.

When two stellar partners come together to make something amazing and the design community picks up on it, celebrations are in order!

Sending our partners House of Funk Brewing Co. and Cutler Design a massive congrats for their recent Gold win in the MUSE Awards. The award acknowledges these amazing teams for how the space pushes the boundaries of design and created an inspiring, hangout-worthy zone that, in the words of Muse, ‘cultivating an environment of experimentation with devotion to quality.’

If you’re in the area, swing through House of Funk and see what they’ve created...and snag a craft brew, of course!
