This Women in Construction Week, we are celebrating the strong, skilled women who are shaping skylines, leading projects, and redefining what’s possible.

For too long, outdated stereotypes have tried to limit women in construction—but reality tells a different story. From the field to the boardroom, women are driving progress, building the future, and proving that construction is for everyone.

❓ What drives you to excel in your professional (and/or personal) life?

“What drives me to excel in both my professional and personal life is the desire to make each day better than the last. I believe in continuous growth, learning from every experience, and constantly pushing myself to improve. Even the smallest progress keeps me motivated and moving forward.”

❓ How do you stay organized and manage multiple priorities?

“I write everything down! Keeping detailed lists, notes, and schedules helps me track tasks, deadlines, and responsibilities effectively. Whether using digital tools or simple to-do lists, writing things down allows me to visualize my workload, set clear priorities, and ensure nothing falls through the cracks.”

❓ What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of work?

“I was a competitive roller-figure skater and later a coach until 2018, when my home rink closed. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my 3-year-old granddaughter (and my two daughters, too), reading, and going for walks with friends.”

When searching for a place to call home, renters often compare options based on the amenities available within a similar rent range. These features go beyond convenience, shaping daily living experiences and creating a sense of belonging.

In-suite laundry and pet-friendly spaces lead the list, offering comfort and inclusivity. Shared indoor and outdoor spaces, like lounges and rooftop patios, provide opportunities to relax and connect. Fitness facilities are often a nice-to-have, with many renters relying on local gyms and classes nowadays. Off-street parking varies in importance based on location, transit access, and vehicle ownership.

To ensure a multifamily project stands the test of time and attracts renters through both market highs and lows, offering the right amenities is key.

With the housing affordability crisis remaining a critical issue, multifamily developments continue to play a pivotal role in addressing Canada’s growing housing demands. As we enter 2025, several factors contribute to a promising outlook for the sector.

Local governments must prioritize making high-density housing more feasible, especially near transit hubs and urban centers. These efforts, combined with an increasing focus on affordable housing solutions, present meaningful opportunities for growth.

We are excited to continue contributing to the multifamily sector, delivering projects that address the evolving housing needs of our communities.

❓ What do you enjoy most about being a part of Cairo Development?

“I enjoy the sense of accomplishment that comes with seeing a project progress from concept to completion. I find it exciting to be part of a team that tackles new challenges, solves problems in real-time, and ensures projects are delivered on time and within budget. The collaborative nature of the work, coupled with the opportunity to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment, keeps me motivated and engaged every day.”

❓ What has been the most valuable lesson you have learned in your career?

“The most valuable lesson I have learned in my career is: “Let your word be your bond.” This principle highlights the importance of integrity and reliability in all that I do. In construction, where numerous moving parts and stakeholders are involved, trust is paramount. When I commit to something—be it meeting a deadline, delivering accurate estimates, or maintaining clear communication with teams and clients—I ensure I follow through. Consistency in keeping my word builds respect and fosters long-term relationships, which are vital in our industry. Upholding this standard contributes to the success of the projects and the organization I am proud to be a part of.”

❓ What are your favorite hobbies or interests outside of work?

“My favorite hobbies include woodworking and building small projects, which allow me to use my hands and creativity in a different way than I do in my professional life.

I am also an avid F1 racing fan and NFL enthusiast. For me, it’s not just about how fast the cars can go, but the team strategies behind the race. I find it fascinating how the race engineer, strategic engineer, and team principal can maximize performance with the right approach—or inadvertently hinder it with the wrong one.”
